Airhead ingnition key - foldie bit?

My Airhead when it had an ignition key had a foldie bit, why is that?




BTW I don't really give a shite I just wanted to see if the Airhead section could manage to strectch a thread on keys out to over 4 pages...

It's for when you pull on the 'over sensitive' front brake too hard and your body is thrown towards the clocks, the key folds over so it doesn't stab you in the heart

you're not catching me out.
i've done that.
the results are an increased vocabulary - all of it;
followed by a session with a tweezers or long nosed pliers,
followed by a new key.

still hate foldy bits.

Health and safety....in case you fail to properly put the sidestand down and fall onto the key ...it just simply folds up and all you have is a nice BWM logo stamped on yer tit

Yeahbut, if you have your foldie key attatched to a key ring with other keys and possibly a compass or a bottle/can opener or both then you cant get the foldie key in to turn the lock.

Been using mine without a foldie bit for three years now and I daresay I have turned the bars from side to side a few times now, no prblems so far so what should I expect?

Actually, If you really want to know why it has a foldie bit, Its quite simple really..... The foldie over bit has a BMW logo on it which you can see when its folded over. When its upright you c ant see it and neither can any othe passsing prospective buyer.
Also you dont get that on a Honakwacksusaha

Foldy keys

Are they easy to replace without having to get a normal key?

I struggle with mine with just a keyring on it. Fiddly it is.

I found a bit of synthetic lock oil on the hinge helped keep it nice and floppy

The foldie over bit has a BMW logo on it which you can see when its folded over.

Its also got a nice little pointie arrow on it so you know which direction to push it.

To avoid confusion, the foldie over bit has to be in the closed position for this to assist in insertion.

Havn't worked out what the four grooves are for yet.
