Airhead "Race" Exhaust

I found a "one man band" type exhaust manufacturer recently in Germany and after a bit of a discussion with him placed an order for one of his airhead exhausts and it arrived today.

The thing is superb, beautifully finished, welding is a work of art and it just exudes quality as far as I'm concerned. Always a risk buying unknown goods with no history but this is a gem.

Quick run out and it sounds fantastic, not offensively loud so will not attract attention from the plod, but a lot different to the standard exhaust.

Then I scrolled down and read Rob's post and burst out laughing.

I'm sure quality is good Roge but it looks like something fitted by Kwikfit.

Stick it back on the wheely bin and the binmen might take it away for you.

Actually, it looks much better on the bin than on the bike.

Have the custom seat Tony Archer built for me last year as I'm planning some mileage this weekend Red is in the garage, it has the looks and will be back on next week, but just no where near as comfortable as the black one.

Sock can is not going anywhere, it will return at some point, just don't know when, I like the current version ya see. Mind you I change my mind more often than my underwear so ........................................

Unable to resist the lure of the oxymoron generated by the words 'Airhead' and 'Race',I had to sneak a peek.

While it`s easier on the eye than the stock abhorration,it`s a great shame that none of the lines of the new exhaust manage to match any of the lines of the bike`s subframe,unlike when I modded the CCM exhaust for my LegoBike.....also what a shame that it needed that naffola extra top mounting bracket.

I think it would also have been better with a bracing strip or inverted V bracket attached at two points to the pipe on the lower mount.

JMO, naturally.

Similar to a Gletter exhaust, same size, construction and mounting, uses a suspended bracket rather than a direct bolt to the frame.

If it lost the cheese grater heatshield it wouldn't look half as bad or rather would look twice as good.

But I'm just like to hear its gonna have a load of miles put on it not keep the garage warm

The Siebenrock zorst is a nice looking and very sweet sounding jobbie, probably breathes nicely too.

They look nice with an arse chop too but I'm not suggesting that for the Dakar

Nice looking sidestand, is it one of the proprietry aftermarket items or a special - no one seems to list one for a G/S, or a GS for that matter.

Exhaust looks ok to.

Pity that no one seems to make a centre pipe, that is , a pipe from the end of the collector to the front of the muffler, with a double sided bracket in the centre for the footrest.

My nearest wrecker has plenty of good end cans for $50-, so with a reasonably priced centre pipe something could be russtled up for around a third of the cost of what is around .

Actually saw the Siebenrock system on a local bike last week and heard it roar off, it's pretty impressive and I'm informed works well on the bike, but at €998.95 it's out of my budget.

I'll leave her arse alone, Proff would have a heart attack!

Actually, also being a man of excellant taste, I'd put it on my Para at the drop of a hat...but it would nned the BSAU stamp on it. I like it a lot..if you'd have said it was made by Gletter, more would like it...but how cruel to compare it to the engineering emminating from Donegal
