What do you run?
The Basic is currently on, oh bugger I can't remember what their called (knobblies, very hard and start with an H) but I have a brand new Metzeler Enduro 3 front tyre so am going to buy a rear and see what their like. I find the ones ftted are a bit too hard and a little square where as the Enduro 3 looks like a softer rounder tyre which should still be ok for trail riding.

+1 for the TKCs. We have them on the 650, 1200 and Dakar (well on the front, with a Tourence on the back).

They work well on the road are good in the wet (compared to most Knobblies) and do everything off road the we want to do.

Val.

When I collected the 80 g/s it came with good old TKC's fitted which I'd never ridden on before and while they were better than expected I've a Metzler Enduro 1 and an Enduro 2 for the rear ordered for fitting this week thanks to the doddery old Cider Pimp's recommendation. :rob

Seems to be a popular option from the pictures I've seen on here.

Best Tyre ever made for a g/s.
won't do for the basic tho' as it's got a 17" back wheel and Metzler 2 is only available in 18" :augie:augie:augie

Which is why Paralever riders have to make do with Metzler Enduro 3's or 4's:blast:blast

I thought that we were discussing tyres for a paralever Bike....i.e. the Basic????????? not the G/S

But.......again it depends on off road use or not.......I am sure that there are better tyres than TKCs if the Bike is only used on tarmac..but some of the oily 1150 riders would disagree as they believe that the TKC is the best tyre full stop.

But has John has pointed out we are looking at tubeless tyres. .i.e. tyres for outside spoke paralever wheels

It's my fault I forgot Trippy's was a paralever :blast

If you read up a bit though.h Proff's covered it already :D

Oh yes it's g/s surely:augie:augie

I have Metz tourences on mine which were fine new but as they wear the bike would "tram line" on a glass coffee table. Not sure what I'll fit next though.

Pirelli Scorpions (MT90s) on mine.

Sort of knobbly, a bit like the older Tourance.

They do the job, but the front feels very insecure on today's damp roads with wet leaves about

('89 100GS Paralever).

Bob.

I came off my 80GS last year and the year before on two similar damp days......slow speed shunts.......one into the back of a Vauxhall......I blamed the TKCs on tarmac they just kept going and going.....but it could have been my senile reactions

My G/S has Metzeler Enduro 1 & 2's fitted....excellant tyre for this bike and have had them fitted on most of my G/S. I'm not a fan of Tourances on this bike.
My Kawasaki ( spit ding ) KLR650 has Avon Distanzia fitted and these are a superb road based tyre and recommended also.

As my G/S is intended for rallies only then I'll probably stick with Enduros but considering Pirelli MT21's for the Kawasaki next spring ( well as soon as I wear out the Diastanzias ! )..may ( sorry proff ) even try MT21 on the G/S:eek:

I'll put money on you not liking the MT21's on the g/s:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Oi :rob...it is you that can't read...my post is for G/S and I don't mention paralevers :D irrespective on the initial thread ( remember the other thread here took 56 postings and ended up talking about tuna:nenau) Btw, any cars for sale? ;)

And no extra section for sad 2CV's either ...feckin' heaps O shite :D

AND I don't want to hear a another word from you or I'll tell BHT you called him a knut !!!

PS Just been told LIVERPOOL are on the telly...so will be back later :-)

sounds like the airhead section is having some fun.must be something in the horlicks this week.

i thought this thread started by trippy was asking which tyres you run on your airhead.
although i suspect he wanted to know which ones to put on his paralever basic.
and he has a new front already ,so i have told him to get the matching enduro 4 already:P

on my g/s i run metz enduro 1+2 as reccomended by 2gses /proff and a old g/s mate.:thumbthey last for ages and were made specific for the g/s.
i also have enduro 3 on my spare wheels.

i have tried out trailwings and didnt like them.
i have tkcs80's on my f650 the were fine.
but think the metz enduros suit me .
for now:rolleyes:
