Why is it that whenever I mention Airhead Weekend, then all hell breaks loose in my life?
Drove down to Weymouth on Thursday morning and boarded ferry to go to Jersey to look after my elderly aparents. I was sitting in my seat 10 minutes before sailing when very distraught wife phones me and tells me her father is seriously ill in Cardiff and not expected to last the day

. Amazingly, the Condor staff managed to move around the cars on the car deck and get me off the boat in time. I returned home to collect my wife and then drove to Wales so that she could be at her Dad's bedside. He is still hanging in there but the nurses have now stopped all treament and removed all drugs, fluids and even the oxygen. We have been taking turns at the hospital with her sister and two brothers and not getting much sleep. I've just popped out to a very dodgy islamic internet cafe in Cardiff for a break.
The Welsh don't seem very happy today, something to do with a football match or something. Lots of very pissed up taffys beating shit out of each other and lots of police all over the place. Probably didn't help when I asked in the Welsh souvenir shop in a French accent if they had any cheap rugby shirts going.
Back to Airhead Weekend.
Thanks for all the positive threads and the many pm's with offers of help. I'll reply to those when I'm back if if I ever get back home. Might have to go straight from Wales back to Jersey next week depending on which set of parents or in-laws have greater need.
Quickly read posts above and agree with most.
Dates. I've not got a calendar here in this dodgy cafe (it would only show major Jihad dates I think) but would stick to the middle of June as in previous years. Is that OK or does that clash with anything else?
Eligibility. All welcome with basic criteria of owning an air-cooled shaft drive twin. As well as the obvious BMWs (not just G/S etc but any airhead) it would also include Guzzis and Urals. Anyone else who has an interest may attend but in the event of a sell out then preference would of course be given to airhead owners. That sounds fair enough to me but my decision is the final one.
I'm certainly not wanting anyone to "take sides" as suggested above. We are all on the same side and I continue to try to speak to Proff to ensure his continued friendship even if he does not make it easy at times. However, I believe that it is easier to have one single organiser to make decisions rather than two different people who might have different opinions and different priorities. Sorry if that sounds a bit like "its my ball so you play by my rules" but that is the only way I am prepared to do it in future. Proff is welcome to attend provided that like everyone else, he can agree to abide by a simple set of rules for everyones benefit. I will clarify these nearer the time but as it is held at my house, then the absolute minimum is being polite and respectful to my wife Ann. She works damn hard all weekend (together with Babs and Simon/Sumprat) and doesn't deserve to be spoken to rudely or completely ignored.
In the three years we have run the event we have only had a few minor incidents of people abusing our hospitality so I appreciate that the vast majority of the attendees are wonderfull people who almost all leave us as good friends who are welcome back at any time.
If people can agree the date as mid June then we can get a thread set up in National Events when I'm back.
Got to go back to the hospital in a minute so not sure when I'll next be able to get online.
Cheers
Sid
