akito jackets , got a view ?

Hi ,
I am in the market for a jacket to compliment my newly purchased 1150 gsa and like the look and price of the Akito Desert jacket . Wondered whether anyone had any experience of them or recommendations on a jacket that doesnt look like a tosser suit for around £200.

No idea if it is any good or not but FT is selling off it's Senegal jacket and trouseers cheap.
I think the jacket goes for £90.

iv got the desert trousers,
hard kneepads, (changed em)
cool enough for summer without the liner, and kept me dry in 2 days/650 miles of rumanian monsoon,
i presume the jacket is similar

First bike jacket I bought was Akito. Had it for 4 years never let me down, kept me warm and dry

I use the suit on my daily commute, weekend fun rides and did a 3500 mile tour in it last year:
It is what it is, not had any problems with the jacket; summer cool with vents open, in the rain the inner waterproof jacket has kept me very dry and through the winter the thermal & Waterproof jackets kept me warm-ish.
The trousers have been sent back once, however even the second pair ripped at the seams in different areas - did my own repairs and works fine now.

hi i bought a suit last year used it for a trip to continent in july down to croatia n varrious other smaller jaunts . had it on today for a shake down before maroc next week 8 degrees c with the liners in was ok and it works up to 38degees c . the liners are a bit of a fiddle (imho) so when its warm i remove the waterproof liner and stick on an oversuit . it is what it is a cheapie version of the high quality bmw type suit im ok with it as im , not too keen on the corporate thingy All in all i recon its value for money

Bought it for a ride from South Africa to Kenya. Temps varied from 5 to 38 C and it was perfect for the whole trip. Has lasted for two years of daily use and is now a bitty tatty but still does the job.

Its fiddly to get the liner and waterproof trousers in until you are used to it and they certainly keep you warm

The waterproofing trousers fcan eel like a wet duvet if it is a bit humid and I always preferred to leave them out and nikwax the suit. Or just accept you get wet!

Great value for the money!

A mate bought an Akito cordura jacket just after passing DAS. Several slides down the road later, after binning his ER5, and he is impressed with the jacket.

The main problem with Akito is finding an exact replacement. They tend to buy in batches and when they are gone they are gone, and a new design takes its place. Said mate wanted an exact replacement for his battle scarred jacket and could not find one in the shops. He was lucky that a chap who works in the warehouse in Cumbria spotted his post in a newsgroup and sourced one for him.

I brought the Akito Jacket and Trousers about a month ago now. To be fair i haven't had it all that long. I got back onto bikes from wearing leathers in 2005 on my blade what a massive step textiles have made.

I've been in a real down poor last week and i was bone dry when i got home, i stripped all the inner layers out on Saturday and shoved both jacket and trousers in the washing machine. Both items came up really clean and without any problems.

In a few months i will be taking a 3k tour in Europe so i guess thats the real test. This is the exact jacket i have with matching bottoms.
