Akra End Can for a 2010 GSA - Question

Dealer price for a new Akra end can for my 2010 GSA- £690

Nippy Normans price for the same (only difference is the label they say) £500

Am I missing something here ?

Seems a no brainer, but experience has told me there's always a catch.

Anyone know of any valid reason not to save meself nearly £200 ?

you pay the 200 squid for the laser engraving and the bmw part number,
the gen bm ones sell for more on ebay than the poor mans one with the sticker

Both the same apart from the BMW one is laser etched and the other one is a sticker. If your not fussed about the sticker opposed to the laser etching go for it and use the cash saved for fuel and go ride!

Although that BMW one looks very good, a badge isn't worth £200 !

Looks like NN one for me ...........Should be able to fit my R1200S wheels then

do nn do recorded delivery, i got a mail last thursday to say my parts had been sent (mudsling), still waiting for them to arrive bit concerned now.

negotiate with the dealer you got the bike from and get the price down. The plus of the genuine BMW is that it won't invalidate your warranty. There is always a risk of the dealer 'trying it on' if you fit the non BMW version.

You pays your money and you take your chance!!!!

The only thing i'd say about the NN Akra, is be prepared to buy half a dozen or so more stickers (@£10 each).

Because if you regularly use Vario side cases during hot weather, the sticker can overheat and peel off.

So, i've since sold my 'stickered' Akra, and bought the BMW version

If however you aren't a badge snob. You can simply not bother replacing the sticker at all when it eventually peels off.

I was in my supplying dealer having my bike serviced yesterday and expressed an interest in a can for my gs as my standard one got damaged and was offered one for 550 ish ex stock,so there should be a chance you could negotiate something similar.Hope that helps

Did just that earlier on today - called in at my dealers on the way back from a meeting - told him of my quandry

Owner & parts manager went into a huddle .......result ......picking one up next week for exactly £550

Happy to pay the extra £50 ( £40 after NN post & packing) for the nicer looking can & warranty - plus it's supporting my dealer

From memory NN are not the quickest delivery wise - it still took a couple of working days to get to me after I had an email saying they'd been despatched. Was postage free though.
