Hi all I recently bought a 2019 1250GS and have already fitted an Akrapovic exhaust. Interested to hear the views of anyone that has gone one step further with the Akrapovic downpipes. Was it worth it ? I guess they make it a lot louder (not really looking for that). Impact on fuelling, performance, etc ?

Cheers, loving the new bike !

Based on how few I've seen with it, and that the bike out of the box with/without the Akra is already brilliant... I'd wager the ££ are better spent elsewhere.

Yeah can't say I've come across any hence the question. My guess is they may adversely effect the fuelling and certainly on the older models made the bike too noisy. Think I'll steer clear it rides really well as is, I really only bought the silencer for the nicer sound in any case.

I was looking at the headers recently and they're available with and without the flapper valve so shouldn't be that noisy.

Has anyone here actually put on a full Akrapovic system? Interested to hear the feedback.

Just about to fit mine today , I will post a few pictures and to add I have a BHP uk Flasher with the altered fuel map to put on as well. Already running with the BHP standard improved map.
Mines a 1250 Gs Ultimate 23 reg .

Had them on for a while. People say the Zuast is very loud.....I lip-read so can't tell....the engine does spin up easier but then again it has loosened up with miles ( I mainly tour so it gets thrashed). It's done 20,000 miles. The expense is high and I would wager only marginal improvement......guess the answer is to ride both configurations back to back.

Great that would be good 👍 I suspect a change to the fuel map is going to be required with the full system.

I'd like to see Dyno results to know if all the expense is worth it. There needs to be significant gains for me to do this.

Unless you are a pro-rider in a race series, it is not. Better to spend the money on either aesthetic farkles, better tyres, or rider training.

If the cat is removed there will be some gain in performance, potentially around 5 bhp. The akropovic can provides another 1bhp. The remap around 3 bhp.
In total 8 to 9 bhp potentially and a few kg weight saving.

Well the GS is not for the pro race series as you put it. I have always run the de-cat and a map update and have found the gains low down and also the mid range to be good. Top end , not interested to be honest as the pleasure for me is in the inital pick up and in the power band.
The upgrade has always given the the extra bit when compared to the standard sytem , great for the mountain twistys , unfortunatly not fitted for the recent Spain trip as the bike was sub 1000 miles when I went and it was still a bit tight , again low and mid range was lacking.
Just come off the V4 Multi and to be honest I had more fun on the Gs as the engine is so good , your not smashing the gearbox and riding it like a 500 2smoker always in the power which was trying, fun , but trying

Where do you get the map update done. Let us know how the bike runs before and after (and compared to previous bikes) when you get the chance ?

Will do , I have 3 maps , one for the bike standard, one for the de cat + end can with no valve operation and the one im using now is the de cat with valve + end can. BHP uk .
I did have the de cat on the V4 but used a Brentune map as not found the Bhp Uk company.
All maps are placed onto the ecu as required and the standard map removed , you can change back for service etc to the original as not to loose ( or potentially) the tune map.

Cheers. So BHP charge £450 for the map (including some equipment) so you can load the maps yourself. They claim an extra 8 bhp plus much improved part throttle response. I wonder if this is better money spent that the headers.

Likely to keep the bike a few years so might be worth it.

I will let you know as not run the bike with all on yet , my feeling is it will be better based on the free flow of the exhaust and also past experience with this type of system on previous Gs bikes. The up graded standard map works well and make the bike perform well so with the addition of the headers this will make an impact , kept the valve as feel one for the noise boys.

I had them on mine and while they did seem to release some of the pops and burbles a bit more, at idle they were very much the same. I had the valved versions though, so I would have to assume that they were closed at idle and opened at full chat, so maybe there you would notice more of a difference. I actually ended up taking them off and selling them because I didn't think they were worth the overall cost. That being said, I never had the bike mapped after I put them on so that might make more of a difference.
