I have just ordered a water cooled GSA after many happy years and miles with my oil/air cooled Adventure and I have gone for the Akrapovic exhaust. I am contemplating replacing the headers as well but before I do has anyone fitted a full system to their water cooled (Remus or Akrapovic) and if so is it a little too loud or just right.

I had a full system on my previous 1200 and it sounded fine but it never had the exhaust flap.:beerjug:

I have some akro headers FOR SALE and the heat shield is powder coated satin black, everything is as new as there off my bike.

There do make a huge difference smooths out the fuelling thus removing the 3k surge pulls better and its marginal louder in a good way, i left the baffle in the can.

Full system on mine and a Hilltop remap to release the beast :thumb

It's nowhere near as loud as some of my previous Ducatis and I wear ear plugs anyway so doesn't bother me.

I like it :D

Akra headers and Akra can on mine, from a performance point of view these mods make less of a difference than they did on previous GS models but nonetheless they do clean up the power delivery and help to eliminate a relatively flat spot around 5000rpm, noise? I think this combo is too noisy, yes I wear moulded ear plugs all the time and the baffle discs are still in place in the Akra can, I would like to find larger baffles to fit the can to take the edge off the bark of the exhaust note if I can find some.

Out of interest, what your bhp and torque figures with the full system when fettled by Hilltop?

Thanks

I have had Akra cans on my previous GSA's. With both of them, my dealer advised me not to have the Akra fitted until the 600 my first service as this gives the engine and exhaust gas flow time to settle down and bed in. So I had them fitted at the first service. Is there any truth in this or can you have them fitted from new as most of you have, with no after effects?

Thanks
