Hope this is in the right place ......

I'm thinking of putting an Akrapovic exhaust on my 2003 1150GS, but I can't seem to find much about this on the forum - quite possible it's me being a bit thick - and would appreciate any advice.
Questions which I wonder about are:

Will it fit directly to a Remus 'Y' piece, or would any modiifications be needed?

Would it interfere in any way with the fitting of the standard BMW Touring pannier?

If I did decide to buy one, who would anyone recommend to purchase from?

Anyone any experience of using one - if so, how do you rate it?

Thanks in advance for any inormation - Penguin

It's a straight fit to either the stock system or a Remus Y piece, no mods needed.

Won't conflict with the BMW luggage.

Calsport are worth talking to, good service and lower than RRP.

If you're using the BM plastic "system" luggage you may find holes get burnt in the corner, or trash the number plate

This may happen even if you do / don't fit the y-piece. Solutions are to get an extension to the can's outlet / cover the inner arse end of the pannier in heat resisting material / buy the tin luggage.

BTW Nice BIG photo Roger :D

Thanks for the replies lads - does the exhaust on an Akrapovik get much hotter than the standard? I don't have any problem with either the panniers or the number plate with the standard set up - is it certain that difficulties will occure with an Akrapovik?
Does this apply to all after market exhaust systems, and if so would it be better to stick to the original?
Anyone else any other thoughts or experiences?

Thanks - Penguin

The Man that Built and designed your Bike has every component working at
a spefic job.
That didnt incl a Remus.
Believe me you will soon tire of the Constant Drone !
Its a Killer after a Coupla constant days ................
It will Affect you BMW Panniers , as in ,,,,, if you dont angle it
correctly , your pannier willl Melt , dont even bother with the wee
sticky tin foil , its a waste of Time and effort. Even if you were to
use the Best Alumimium panniers on the Market ,which we all know are
Caja Sahel , Adventure luggage , you have to space the exhaust back
so as not to fry the Contents.
Yes it does Run an Awful lot hotter , and yes you will fry the Number plate

Oh And !

The Only reason that Thunder reckons that its a good Job is that
he is currently searchin for his Youth !.
I do believe its called a Mid life Crisis
