I am looking at a set of headers to fit an 09 GSA are they worth the money? is there much performance improvement ?

Do it for £269!!!!!
I de-catted my headers and that was an improvement over stock. After 60,000 miles they were a bit tatty so looked for replacements.
I looked at all the options but discounted Akrapovic as being too expensive until I found this website...... £269 is half price!!

I put them on my 08' and the difference is quite marked. It's a further step up from de-catted headers.
In my opinion it is a worthwhile upgrade.

I have a used Akra system that is not interchangeable with standard headers. I love it but be careful which model you get. Not all Akra headers & silencers are compatible with the usual BMW 1200 systems

I don't blame you - given the fact that these are essentially the same as my 2013 in manufacturing terms I refuse to buy them at the full asking price.

There is approximately 0.00% difference in performance between Akraprovic and yobbo brand decat headers. But the Akra might show some improvement if the bike is remapped.
The reduced price akra headers are great value, and will fit any pre TC Akra end cans - in fact, you can fit the whole system to the TC bikes and eliminate the flap at the same time.
There is a difference even on the standard bike eliminating the cat, and I'd put money on the Akra producing slightly more power than most.

Why would you not expect the same with "Yobbo" brand headers after a remap?

I really cant believe how people think because it says "akrapovic" it will be better than evrything else! Dont get me wrong here, I like akrapovic, but come on, wake up guys, smell the coffee!!

It is not because of the name on the side - it is because the manufacturers give them access to the bikes, and their profits allow them to develop their products - wake up, smell the coffee and look at the dyno figures
That said - there isn't that much in it; and my post said "slightly more power than most", which I think you will find is 100% accurate.

I recently saw a no name system on ebay where the RH pipe joined at nearly 90 degrees to the LH pipe. It had to be bad for gas flow. I would expect Remus are similar quality to Akraprovic.
Sandy Bikes are generally good so these may be worth a punt, but get a good look at that joint before buying.

Akro headers and pipe got me 3 points , they were so noisy the police officer just turned his speed gun on me as I crept along the seafront at 36mph

My Akra shotgun has baffles for just that reason (and it would have spectacularly failed the MOT).
My 05GS had the 2-1-2 Akra shotgun system. no baffles, no availability for baffles on that system unless home built, and did quite spectacularly fail its MOT. I couldn't bear to remove the system and ride without, it also had Ohlins front and back and was a gem. Sold the bike in 2010ish for a 1200GS SE. I love the bike, but the engine sounds like a bag of nails and doesn't seem to have anything like the freeflowing nature of my old shotgunned engine, that used to ping up to the limiter without batting an eyelid.

I had a pair of baffles fitted by Xtreme Stainless. One fell out (my fault) so I fitted a standard £10 baffle that I had handy. The bike will rip when wound open but most of the time has a lovely mellow sound. The MOT tester loved it.
Its very slightly less perky with baffles, but unless you rode it back to back with/without you'd never notice.
