Akrapovic is getting old & tired

Hello all

Nothing to ask, no help needed, just a report on my 12 years old Akrapovic. It's been following me on my last 3 GS, has probably done around 125,000 miles and it is really starting to show...
Should I file a warranty claim?

When I shake it, it sounds like there is a ton of sand moving around inside. It's actually the mineral wool that has broken down into dust, and I think there is none left where the titanium is starting to blue up.
Doesn't look too good...

On the plus side, it makes a nice gritty noise without being too loud.

I had a titanium race can repacked. Slipstream did mine years ago but they don't exist anymore, I'm sure other places could do it

Absolutely. I think even Akrapovic themselves offer such services.
But to be honest, my GS is a daily driver. Whenever I clean it thoroughly, it gets rainy on the next Monday and it looks beat up again.
I like my motorcycles mechanically perfect and esthetically... ok. Ish.

That describes my GS too, had it 18 years many of which is was a daily commuter. I'm sure daily abuse is why it runs so nicely now. Shiny GS's suck IMHO

It's like humans. Daily exercise is the key to good health haha!
