Bit o' help needed please.

I've just put an Akrapovic slip on onto my 2010 GSA and have noticed a slight leak from the join to the exhaust flap. Even being the complete mechanical dullard I am I thought that a quick removal, clean and refix would cure it. It ain't :blast

I asked NN (where I purchased said slip on) and was advised that I should try some clear bathroom sealant on the outside to cure it. Is this right, as it just seems a little 'odd' to me?

Any helpful advice greatfully appreciated :bow

Silicone sealant in the joint, reassemble and wipe off excess.

Mine does that when cold and the Akro was fitted by the dealer! Seals up when hot. Also, my RT did it and it had a standard system.

Yup, Silicone sealant is fine for the job.

Also, run it up to operating temperature and then loosen everything of (carefully :D and by everything I mean the whole system from exhaust studs all the way to the silencer) and then give everything a bit of a jiggle/wiggle and tighten up again - it's worked for me on other bikes in the past :)

Thanks for all the help chaps. Silicone it is!!

I just wanted to make sure the exhaust was running optimally as I'm booked in at Hilltop this weekend :roll :bounce1

I don't know why, but I still find it odd, and slightly funny, that you use Bathroom silicone sealant for the exhaust.

Just me getting my head round it I guess

It ranks alongside gaffer tape and cable ties as a wonder invention in my book :D
