Morning folks,
Just dropped in from the 1150 forum.

I’m about to purchase a black 1250 Gs TE ( obviously keeping the 1150 )and looking for a Akra in black preferably.

There are a deal on the BMW ones at the moment but I do think they look a little ugly.

Anyone recommend the best place to get one from ?

Steve.

I was thinking the same myself when I was placing the order for my 2021 R1250GS Tripple Black.
In last 35 years of biking I would always purchase aftermarket muffler for my bike and had oportunity on many of them to remove completely the silencer or shorten it to my liking. Some of them sounded right from the start without touching the silencer.

With this bike (was deliviered to me 4 days ago) I had Akrapovic on my mind but then I gave up for these reasons:
- Heavy, almost as much as standard muffler
- Sound is what it is, you cant do much about it
- Very expensive and on bike delivery you don't get standard exhaust too

So, I ended up with bike with standard exhaust and then purchased Arrow slip-on. It was much less expensive and I can now play with the silencer until I get the sound I like. And I still have original exhaust kept in my garage.
There are many aftermarket exhausts out there with various colours, shapes, materials, prices... You just pick what you like and you keep the exhaust that came with the bike.

You should look at the HP Corse . As well built as the Akra and a few hundred pounds less. My brother bought his of WRS in Italy.

1200 model akra fit no problem on 1250, and look better than beluga fish new one.

Give Calsport a call and ask for their best price. I bought one from them before Christmas and called to question the price difference between their website and their eBay site. I was more than happy with the outcome, they’re a good bunch!

Thanks for all the info folks. I take it they still have removable baffles like the good old days ???
Think anything from eu4 have non removable baffles.

It's a question you would need to ask when ordering.

Pregnant fish

I had the Akrapovic but traded it for an Arrow and personally (subjective) think it looks much better. Quite a significant weight with the Arrow being much lighter. No noticeable performance difference and even the weight difference isn’t noticeable once fitted.
The Akrapovics baffles could be easily removed if you really wanted too. The Arrows are also removable but it would take more of an effort. That’s said, it’s fruity enough with them in compared to the Akrapovic.

Agreed. The one I had (beluga) was straight forward if wanted to. Easy to remove carbon end piece giving you access to the baffles.

Me too, it's grown on me more. it's not 'run of the mill" dustbin look. The Remus 8 is a close second though.

Fun fact. Those hpcorse cans are sold by a company based behind VR46 HQ in Tavullia.

So if you go to see the San Marino GP you can pop in for a new exhaust can and save the import duties.

I got the Arrow, which was Euro 4 compliant, as I didn't like the look of the Akra, and the Remus was £700+

Arrow put a little tab with the tiniest weld on it which just popped off with a small screwdrivers help
They know most will take them off but put the welded tab on so they can send them out with the certificate

Tried the baffle out and too loud for me, so it went back in. Louder than stock and a lot less than half the Akra price

You know, I quite like the look of that! What’s it like sound wise? Similar to the akro? I don’t want something too loud.

Baffle in similar to my Akra. Haven’t heard it with the baffle out.

They look real good quality.

That does look nice

I got it direct from B&C Express, quoted the Ebay price they advertise it at on their Ebay shop as opposed to their own website, couldn't work that out ?????
