Hi

Does Anybody know the differences between official BMW akra exhaust and the non official akra??

I´m talking about these sport slip-on mufflers:

BMW: akra black decal

Non BMW: yellow and red decal

Thanks!!

The biggest difference I'd guess will be to the wallet

However, if you have BM insurance, I've been told that BM parts are included. So, the BM badged one will have a BM part number .........

Also, I'd guess that if there's any question of the end can affecting the warranty, engine damage for example, then with the BM badged one they can't really blame it and refuse to pay out. That logic worked for me when my dealer supplied and fitted a Remus y-piece to a 2002 1150 GS, and it blew a hole in the system pannier.

plus i think the internals of the bm one are titanium as opposed to stainless in the standard one

Pretty much what has already been said, plus the muffler insert I believe is different on the non BMW can and the fact there will never be an issue with warranty if fitting the official BM can.

Ermmm - not that much difference in price actually. The non BMW can is still a whopping £460.00ish and it has the same titanium internals as the BMW can. The difference is essentially the sticker and I guess the potential warranty and insurance issue as mentioned above if it all goes tits up.
Still - I plumped for the non BMW Akro can and it's just fine IMHO. The only gripe would be the carbon clamp scratching the can thing as mentioned in a few threads. A bit crap on something not far short of 500 quid

Thanks everybody

Ok, the bmw 's a laser "sculpture" not a sticker. Soooorry :)

I asked yesterday in some shops/dealers here in Spain. The price differences are 100-150 euros between them. Official price BMW: 690 euro, installation plus 20 euro. Non bmw costs 550-650 euros depends dealer.

Somebody told me that the non BMW sounds stronger because it hasn't got one internal tube at the end.

:beerjug:

I took the tube out of my BMW Akro can and it sounds great.

My dealer told me that BMW sent them a notice that a non BMW can would effect any warranty claims. (You could always just put the old can back on.:) )

They also said that an Akro can not bought through a BMW dealer will nil the warranty.
