Right - Somebody give me a clue here, pretty please!!

Got said end can on me bike.

Undone the stoopid 8mm screw snapping useless piece of weld.

Fashioned a coat hanger insert into end can, and hook onto holes, & pull HARD.

AND......

Nothing.

Bleedin thing stuck fast.

Tap with Hammer.

It's stuck even more fast, and won't budge.

HELP!!!

Had to use pliers to get the baffle out on mine. After running the bike a few times with and without I left it in as it seems to run a bit rougher at 4000 and above with it out. Pity though as it sounds much better with it removed.
It's such a tight fit I have to give it a belt with a plasic mallet to get it back in again.

A Fellow Falkirk Bairn!!!

Sadly don't live in Falkirk any longer, but still have many friends there.
In fact will be up on Friday for the annual pilgrimage to Knockhill.

Tried the pliers route, succeeded only in bending the inner pipe edge.

I've gave up. Got a mate in Falkirk, who's an engineer, so will give it to him Friday to play with.

The inner edge on mine has a couple of small dents where I've had to get hold of it with the pliers, but nothing too bad.
I'm actually in a village about 7 miles outside Falkirk, but work in the town.
If you haven't been here for a while, you'll be amazed at how they've managed to feck up the road system.

Two words: Mole Grips. :thumb2

Tightly clamped, give it a wiggle and a yank, that'll do ya. Chances are the baffle's just slightly off centre so will eventually move one way or the other. As long as they're clamped on tight enough you shouldn't make too much of a mess of the baffle either.

I've never been 100% sure on the physics of this sort of thing, but would running the bike up to temp in order to heat the baffle be a good idea perhaps, then do as above? Can't hurt to try I suppose, just wear gloves!

Mine ran noticeably worse, and the sound was getting too antisocial.

Mine was very easy to remove, though. Just a gentle tap and out it came.

penetrating oil spray around the join - leave a while and use pliers or moles.

I also reccommend cleaning the two surfaces before refitting.

I have an 08 GSA with the Akra pipe fitted .. Also had no success getting the bloody thing out .. Now I could be wrong here .. But I tapped the inner pipe in and suddenly the pipe got a lot louder .. I think the new AKRA pipes are not designed to remove the baffles .. I guess by tapping the pipe in it makes it ineffect straight through ???

Try it .. But if you ever do manage to remove the thing then please let me know..

Thanks

Steve

The Akrapovic Website shows the baffle as removable.

Going Home (To Scotland) on Friday. have very good friend there who is mint at pissin aboot with metal work.

Let him have a play.

Let you Tuesday when I'm back!!

So did you get it out !!!

Its Tuesday and was waiting to see if you managed to pull the baffles out !!

Coz I'm still not sure 08 BMW standard fit Akras can have there inners removed

Unless anybody has managed it on an 08 Model ????

Cheers

Steve

I moved my Akra end can which I fitted to an 06 GSA in November 07. Got it changed onto my 08 GSA when I got it in April. Took the baffle out couple of weeks ago. Got rid of the weld, took out the screw, got a good grip on it and gave it a wiggle and twist and out it came.

Dont htink there was any change in the Akra can between 07 and 08 so should be ale to get ours out.

I like the sound of mine with the baffle out and theres an extra bit of snap, crackle and pop which is good.

Not sure if there is any difference performances wise though. I intend to add a performance air filter, set of headers and possibly a power commander to mine at some stage to try and get the best out of her.

Mine's an 08 and the baffle does come out.
You need to remove the bolt from underneath and then grab the lip with mole grips and pull. After the first time it's pretty easy to remove.

Personally I'd leave it in, the power difference is negligable and my bike is smoother running with the baffle in.

It's a great way to reduce power, if you are uncomfortable with too much torque. Hey, you got to sacrifice a few horses if you really want to tick off your neighbours.

Thanks
