Hi all, i posted about 3 weeks ago saying i'd fitted a full Akro system on my 2010 twin cam GSA and i was very happy with the results.

However when fitting a bigger sump gaurd from touratech which wraps up the front close to the link pipe i noticed the exhaust link pipe sticks out about 20mm further on one side ( so the link pipe is touching the sump gaurd on the left side but theres a 20mm gap on the other end of the link pipe.

I thought it might have been the way id fitted it but i took it all off tonight and re fitted it but its still the same. With no other parts of the exhaust fitted, just the 2 downpipes pushed as far as they'll go into the barrels, The link pipe isn't parallel with the front of the engine.

Antbody else noticed this or had any other fitting issues? I've contacted Nippy Normans but they arent there until tuesday. I'll let you know what the outcome is.

Just had exactly the same thing - ordered up 2010 Akrapovic pipes for my 30yr Adv (the price hurt but they are supposed to be the best) - spent all sunday knocking the skin off my knuckles refusing to believe that they could have been made wrong...

...and they are! The forward cylinder (left when sitting on the bike) downpipe sticks too far forward. It actually prevents the bashplate going on and when looking closely the springs for the balance pipe don't line up and there is a twist on the entire system which a) is trying to pull the right hand manifold forward out of the head, and b) means that the exhaust flap end is out of line.

I have spoken to the supplier this morning (as you say they were closed yesterday) and they are apparently going to talk to the importer.

I'm not a happy bunny - spent a lot of money to get quality kit, wasted a day, annoyed the wife, and my bike is back to standard. I will post as soon as I get a response from the supplier, which needs to be soon.

Has anyone else had this - seems extraordinary!!!

Akrapovic just make the pipes to fit the bike and aren't bothered with the extra's. They aren't the same dimensions as the OEM pipes but they should fit with the standard bashplate. :thumb

I think you will also have problems fitting with certain crashbars because of the lamda sensor positioning. I don't suppose it says any of that on the blurb:augie

Good luck with the importers though because a bet a penny to a pinch of sh*t they will say it's not their problem because you are fitting non standard parts.

They won't fit with the standard 30yr adv bashplate.

I would expect the imported of a premium product, charging a premium price, to offer a premium service...

...hope I'm not disapointed!

Ive got 2010 with full akro headers and and everything fits fine but yeah your correct the balance pipe sticks slightly out on one side this is due to the off-set of the heads, so you have not fitted incorrectly its normal, ive also got a crud catcher however this did the same as your guard, what i did is make some stainless spacers to allow the cc to sit off the balance pipe. :thumb2

Its a same with alot of stuff they dont work with other non standard items, i brought some NN injector covers however these dont fit with the plastic bmw cylinder head guards without modding.

I had no idea this was normal  so it looks like there isnt a case to be answered for from Akro or Nippy Normans then?.

I could space the crud catcher out to kid your eye its all square but the touratech sumpgaurd is also way out so i dont see a way round that.

Ive since bought a set of Remus headers and fitted them tonight, They dont have a link pipe but the fitting is spot on and i'm growing rather fond of them. I havent been out on it yet but will at the weekend to compare like for like. If the Akro's aren't going to fit any better they'll probably go on ebay and i'll keep the Remus ones.

I'll keep you posted and thanks for your replies
