Can anyone give me an idea where about on this sceptred isle I can find Alan Weaver's home or workshop ? I'm not looking for an address, but merely an idea how many days the round trip from up here in the frozen north to his place to get some extra lights fitted would entail. Ta muchly:flag

Alan's pretty much dropped out of UKGSer and fitting lights. Amongst other issues, he had some unwarranted criticism about his work and prices.

Lacking anything better to do, I googled 'Alan Weaver HID lights' and came up with assorted sites. Two of these lead me to Nippy Norman. Nippy has (or had) Weaver's contact details as he used to supply him..... Suggest a call to Nippy may be in order..... Nippy's contact details as above, or via Google.....

Alan concentrated more on the Hella Halogen set up, did not really go down the HiD route, that was more me :thumb2

:D

Thanks for all the replies. I'm still fancying the old tried and tested method of two fogs with the dipped beam and two drivers with the main, but the CanBus thingy has me scratching my head; it's beyond my ham-fisted efforts, methinks!

Len, you may yet get a phone call and order from me if I can't sort it out !

Really, though, BMW should do summat, not all of us. The lights on my '07 GS are the worst I've ever sat behind.

Cheers, guys :clap

"Les" and I carry stock of the Hella DE and FF50 if you want a set fitting, in the old fashion way :thumb

I e-mailed Alan last night to alert him to this thread. In his reply he wrote:

Please send my best wishes to all the others, the UKGSer was a huge part of my life for a number of years and it is sadly missed. But one day I will return.............

Good.

From what I heard he did a decent job.

Easy for him to come back; lots do.

Sorry Les/Len/wtf !! Typing with the thumbs again !!

The "Hella/Halogen" route sounds good to me; plod up here have moaned at a few with HID conversions

What part of the world are you in, where you would do the deed and fit these lights ? And of course give me a rough idea of costs, etc, please

If you are referring to BTBR, then yes he did a brilliant and professional job from his home garage. I was well impressed and wish him all the best, and hope he re-starts soon.

He did, tidiest garage I've ever seen, quite impressive. Bought his 1200, and that was shiny and clean too, not fared quite so well with me!

Nice chap too.
