So - I can't be the first to have a bike shed that's away from the house and has no power, so in additon to the alarm and immobiliser and lock on the shed, what do you do?

I'm thinking about one of these, but I also want something rigged up to either a key code pad or similar that makes a sh1t-load of noise (because I won't hear a text coming through on my phone at 2 in the morning)!:eek

Anyone else found a good solution?:hide

Trip wire fires off a blank shotgun cartridge and scares the shite out of the theif as well as anybody within 100 yrds.

Just remember to disarm it when you want to get a bike out of the garage - DAMHIK

I fitted a battery operated shed alarm when I had the race car in a nearby garage. I fitted the keypad inside a steel mesh cage so no one could prise it off the wall or smash the unit, but had to use a pen to enter the key code :blast

I made a little alloy bracket to put the reed switch near the magnet screwed onto the top of the garage door, just don't forgot that it's alarmed. The number of times I opened up to get something and nearly ended up giving myself a heart attack.

had one on garage, garage got broken into early one morning, they soon disabled it, didnt hear a thing.

what i did eventually do was rig up a alarm system in the house, and have the siren on the house wall high up, and ran 2 bell wires along the fence to the micro switches on the garage door. so if they do get in, cut wires it will go off, and the actual alarm bit is in the property.

Not such a silly idea Andres. We live in the out in Styx with no police response so matters are dealt with "in house" so to speak. Have several (3) of these in various buildings. Scared the living sh*t out of me one evening when I forgot.. And cheap. No licence required.

Not so good an idea if you live in a town! But, Homebase do a battery operated wireless alarm that can be twinned to one indoors so if the one in the shed goes off, so does the one indoors. Place by your earhole at night and all's well (until it goes off).

I just used the baby alarm when I had my bike in the a shed at the bottom of the garden. (After the baby grew up!)
Works a treat n theives hate em ...if ya turn em off it beeps at tother end.

I bought some simple gizmos from someone off this site a couple of years ago as joke xmas presents. They let off a blank shotgun cartridge when the shed door is opened - you connect it to the door with fishing line

Seems like a good idea

+1 for the baby alarm amongst other things. having a fully enclosed rear garden helps as does a dog flap and a 48kg dog from hell that sleeps with one eye open and hates everyone. :thumb2

Nope - this one, a male Weimaraner. weighed in at 48.25kgs (105 lbs)at the vets last month much to her horror, we have decided he is just a bit chunky. Here he is trying to cosy up with a neighbour.

He is fine with people he knows but very defensive of the wife if they are out together.
