Alarms

Questions...

Want to fit an alarm to the new toy. Looking at a Meta 357 T as has imob as well as bloody loud alarm, motion with sound off for ferries and the like...

What are good units to have, some say spyball but I have heard bad things re this make.
All thoughts most welcome.

I want to get it right as £££ to buy and fit and dont want to revisit the whole thing in 3 months time if it shaggs...

Dont do it... nothing but trouble and no one pays any attention to them.
However, I am toying with the idea of a capacitor discharge anti theft device, using a HV capacitor from a microwave. small terminals on h/bar grips. Should shoot lots o sparks right through gloves , hands etc.

Alarm/immobioiser

Got a Datatool system 3 on my adventure,it's Thatcham approved and has a built in immobiliser,never had a moment's trouble with it(hope that's not the kiss of death )
you can choose from different alarm tones,it also has swithchable movement sensor(which when enabled is quite sensitive to movement).
Only you can decide if an alarm will be of any use in the places you are likely to leave your bike

Upsides?: immobiliser,insurance discount,loud shreaker,peace of mind,manual override with PIN

Downsides?; As Den says people do ignore em,battery drain-if left for long periods (get an optimate) reliability?? ask around

I do supplement the Alarm with a good disc lock and an ALMAX chain with Ingersoll padlock if I'm feeling particularly paranoid about the location
But if the scrotes want it bad enough they'll have it no matter what you use-all you can hope to do is encourage them to move on to an easier target,or at least slow them down long enough for you to be able to load the pump action :shotim
