Album Ripping

I want to 'rip' (I think that the right techy term) and entire CD to a single MP3 file.
I'm sure it can be done, but all the free software I've found seems to produce a file per track.
Alternatively I guess a free programme that can join several mp3 files into one long one would do.

CDEx will do the trick - use the "Convert -> Extract a section of the CD" menu to extract the lot to a single file.
