Hopefully I’ll try and fit on Sunday, I’m going to take the front of the unit off first as some videos I’ve seen show it not to be sealed too well.

I’ll keep you updated.

Hey Rich,

Unless you have already invested in one of Slipperyeel's super widgets I would hang on till you get one. They make the unit super stable and height adjustable. You have got the light unit they fit too, really easy to fit.

Took your advice Brian, gizmo arrived this morning and fitted easily to my new light unit.

Light now installed on the bike and everything fitted perfectly, looks a treat too.

100% success.

Did it work okay, any error messages from the canbus and what's the modified wiring for please?

Works perfectly, no faults and the wiring difference is that the connections are on the end of fly leads rather than part of the rear casing.

I took the opportunity to loom in a trigger wire for the high beam feed to trigger my spotlight relay.

Might be an idea to fit a Perspex headlight cover.
The plastic lens cover on these seems very thin / week .
I cut 3 covers out of £8 of Perspex one cover had stone damage after a year which I am sure would have broken the headlight plastic.

I was thinking exactly the same thing.

I have a big sheet of Perspex so I’ll set about it.

I did wonder if Ali had one to match?

Fitted mine tonight with the help of one of Slipperyeel's locating widgets it seems all secure. I found the connection for the sidelight somewhat fiddly and had to have several goes to get it working. It also seems to only work if fitted one-way round. Overall a simple job but overall quality let down by the poor sidelight connectioin.

You're right. That side light connection seems poor (and yes, only works one way around). But... If you push the cable back into the lamp and close with the rubber bung, it shouldn't be a problem . Had the headlamp on and off a number of times but it's never failed. I just make sure the wires too it are all pushed back into the lamp, to prevent them getting snagged/yanked by mistake.

ps. Glad you got it all fitted

Lol when i bought mine, it didnt like going to full beam, with a 1-2 second delay from pressing the switch

Stripped it all back, repalced the stock unit, only to find the problem remained

LH switch cluster fubbared £150 ouch

LEd unit replaced , noral service resumed

I was actually wondering the other if you'd sorted the problem out that you had as I'd not seen you mention it since. So it wasn't the headlights fault in the end. 😁

Have one for sale, brand new. Ordered one, somehow got lost in transit, sent me a replacement, fitted it to my 2012 GS 1200, it's the real deal, bright, easy to fit. looks great.

Why do these bloody opportunties always come up after I buy one for full price? Anyway, I can wholeheartdely recommend it to anyone on the fence. Also these protectors look great and hopefully will keep the new one safe.
