Ali panniers. Tight clamp

I have just invested in a brand new pair of BMW Ali panniers. The left one clamps into place on the frame with little resistance however the right one on the exhaust side is very tight and I don't want to force it any harder. Are these clamps adjustable? is this normal??

I've always found them quite tight. Usually give the box a thump to seat it better.

Thanks for that.
I emailed my dealer and they said they found the left one always a bit of a struggle. He told be to man up, lube it and put my back into it stating that he would replace it if it went 'ping'.
With the knowledge of knowing it would be sorted I did just that and clipped into place. Easier now it has fitted once.

Yep, a thump tends to push it further on so the clamp doesn't have to draw it into position.
