Throttle bodies at 93000 miles were getting pretty noisy and tricky to set up so sent them off to SED and back they came - good as new.

Fitted back on the bike, set the TPS near enough and hit the button. Started reasonably ok but just wouldn't rev up - in fact it wouldn't even fast idle.

First thought was stale petrol, there was only about a gallon in there and it had been sitting for quite a while. Pumped it out and refilled with fresh - no difference.

Had a BMW at work recently which was similar and turned out to be fuel pump so did a bit a plumbing and measured the pressure, spot on 3bar.

Went stir crazy looking at the throttle bodies thinking I'd done something stupid but it looked fine every time.

Next idea was ignition, both heads were warming up evenly but had to look at something. Made myself a Hall trigger tester and - lo and behold - the bottom sensor didn't work at all. Started pulling the front apart to find the trigger plate only secured by the top screw which left the bottom flopping around with the crank pulley acting as a big hole saw working its way through the sensors. Needless to say, one screw wouldn't do up and the other just snapped off like a carrot.

Luckily I have a spare front cover as mine looks like one of those wartime relics they drag up from the English Channel. So, question is, what is the easiest way to swap the cover? I'm thinking the alternator will stay behind and the oil cooler pipe will need to be moved as well as taking the front shock off. Exhaust front pipes might be an issue as well. Can I leave the telelever thingy in place?

Also one over on ADV Rider also

I've got the Hall sensor out, it was the front aluminium housing which looks a bit tight.
