I use a StreetPilot 2610 and I have been considering getting a larger CF card. 2.0 GB Cards are getting cheaper all the time.

My question. I would like to put all the maps from City Select Europe on a single CF Card. What size card will I need?

Select them all in Mapsource and it will tell you the total size of the maps selected in the bottom left hand corner. :)

Yeah, and how much will CN v7 need?

but, in reality, unless you are doing the grand tour of europe, you won't need it all loaded in one go.

What's the current going-rate for a 2Gb card?

Greg

European City Select v5 = 2220 tiles 1258Mb
European City Navigator v6 = 489 tiles 1355Mb

Edit: Just read your other post. You could alternatively buy a 2620 rather than the 2610 as this comes with all of europe preloaded onto a microdrive - no need for any pc at all.

2620's aren't recommended for use on bikes tho, virbration isn't good for the drives I believe, according to Pan, our resident GPS guru.

....microdrive not to good on the bike.... mate got one for his 2610 as cheaper (at the time) than the 1g card... went tits up on a trip.... :D

(am i allowed to say tits?):D

Digital Depot are currently offering 1 Gb CF cards at £52.90, but they are much cheaper on eBay.

I had heard that myself, but wasn't aware of anybody who had actually had any trouble.

Guy in work has as GS12 and BMW Nav II and put his "work" 4GB IBM Micro Drive in it. Been all over Europe (and about 10K miles in total) with out a problem.
