Can anyone recommend an all-rounder glove for mainly 3 season riding. Price is not the main issue but the choice is bewildering. Most touring gloves have no finger protection. Definitely want waterproof either sheltex or goretex, not too hot in summer and capable of winter (not the depths) at a push with heated grips or/and liners? Thanks.

always found for 3 seasons i need 2 pair to be comfortable

Hmmm ...

... the tosser choice some years ago was Elkskin Ropers from Aerostich; I bought mine 6 years back and have worn nothing else since, 4 x season with heated grips.

One day I'll buy another pair ...

I have a pair of Alpinestars Polar Goretex

I like them and they feel quite protective whilst retaining comfort

I paid around £80 new from a shop via their Ebay listings

I'd recommend going a size up though as Alpinestars gloves I've found are on the small side size wise

Would sir also like the moon on a stick?

My mate has a pair of Halvarrsons 3 seasons gloves that he says are great...I use the Alpinestars 'Drystars' for winter...not sure if they would be too hot for summer though!!

The answer, my friend, is a decent protective 1 or 2 season glove (lots of choice out there) coupled with handlebar muffs for the wet and cold winter months.

Either that or two pairs of gloves (but still not as good as the above) :thumb2

# Cordura® stretch GORE-TEX® membrane
# X-TRAFIT™ has a 3 layer design and ensures a perfect, wrinkle free fit
# Velcro® tab at wrist
# Windproof, waterproof and high breathable with X-TRAFIT™
# Wiper lip made of rubber on the left index finger

I've had these for around 40k miles - have only had to switch to winter gloves for maybe 3 or 4 days over the last couple years (it was -10!).

Goretex lined so good in a downpour, still keep great feeling of the controls, they have the wiper thingy for cleaning your visor. When/if they finally die - I would likely get them again. The only reason for looking elsewhere is that I've had the same pair of gloves for so long.

I can recommend Halvarrsons, great kit and good value. Don't go much on goretex anymore had too many failures.

2 points

in winter you want a glove thats realy warm and waterproof.
in summer you want a glove thats not as padded , but waterproof.

There are specialised summer and winter gloves on the market.
IF you go for the compromise all round glove , you will find them lacking in both seasons.

After riding well over 20 years , ive worked out you need two pair of gloves, summer and winter.

Nothing worse than a hot sweaty glove in summer , or a cold glove ,where your fingers freeze in winter.

Buy a good summer glove now , like hein gericke , or alpinestar if you are touring.

If you are a power ranger , get a good armoured summer glove without a liner.

(You can always save up , wait for the sales to buy a good winter glove)

It all depends on what sort of riding or conditions you ride in.

Hope this was useful for you.

Any glove with goretex's X-trafit.

HG / BMW do such gloves that are a mix of leather etc with rubber wipers on the finger.

I wouldn't recommend them for summer at 25+; as they will get a bit too warm.
