Seen today in the online sat nav blog "Gps and Sat Nav user"
Quote "It is the goverments intention to introduce a requirement for a licence to UK sat nav users"
The Licence (much like a TV licence) will be avalible from ,
HM Goverment Licencing
Dept 6
West Brompton Hse
Sidinghurst
Kent
AP11FO
Licences are due to come into effect from 1/6/2006 and unlicenced gps and sat nav equipment will cease to function from that date,
Apparently all gps & sat nav units have an in built facility to reconize a signal from the saterlite to disable unlicenced units.
I think this another one of Gordon Browns backdoor taxes, the cost of licening your unit is set to start at £60.00 per year, no doubt increasing year on year.
I,m supprised this has`nt recived much publicity, but apprently it was mentioned / anounced in the Budget
