If you haven't a compressor and dedicated spray gun I can recommend, providing you have the small ACF hand squeeze spray bottle, adding a little bit of brake cleaner to the ACF. It thins it beautifully to produce a fine mist.

It's definitely worth doing this. I've been really impressed with the results.
I have a small compressor in wheels and I use a paraffin spray gun from Machine Mart - about £15. It gives a super fine mist and allowed you to poke it for into the bike.
Definitely DO NOT get it onto the discs... I wrap up the front wheel completely and remove the rear. It takes another 15-20min after spraying to run down with a soft cloth. I then leave it standing for an hour or so before starting up.
As mentioned already above, the bikes only cleans up great if it was cleaned well in the first place.

I've been doing this for a few years, diluting 50:50 - don't worry if you don't have the small ACF spray bottle. I use cheap hair cutter types from China, at less than £1.00 a pop.
I had my previous Crosstourer ACF50 treated at home last winter.
Used a company based in Ilkeston called Calibre Motorcycle Valeting and they did an awesome job. Anne arrived bang on time and after 4 hours the bike looked absolutely factory fresh.
I looked at having the new Africa Twin done this year but sadly it appears that they are no longer trading which is a pity as I would have highly recommended them.

Perhaps it's just me but I just can't get on with ACF50. Tried it in the past via a compressor and the bike just looks like a POS after the 1st ride and it's such a faff to get off come spring time if you want all of your bike looking nice. I know it doesn't last as long a d you need to apply it after every ride but I much prefer FS365. I have treated the hard to get at areas like the rear hub with XCP but for the rest of the bike unless you're riding it every day FS365 is IMO a better option as amongst other thi vs it's far easier to apply and your bike still looks decent afterwards but each to their own.
All i do in the winter is hose the crap off with purified water, its easy to make a purifier to just use the crystals the window cleaners use

What he says... been using it for 15 years. Much prefer it, as don't get the gloopy finish which is then tricky to clean off and attracts all the dirt... but fs365 is easy to apply, to clean off and protective, and I can wash it every time without wasting loads of money... happy days. Works for me.
I have used All Year Biker a couple of times, Dave Ackrill based in Bolsover (Derbyshire). He done a great job, very friendly and always had a cup of tea waiting - from memory it was about £70 a pop, and to be honest worth it for the time and effort invested.
For me it was a bit of a trek so I took a punt and brought my own compressor (link below - cost just shy of £100 with all required add ons), it works like a dream and the desired fine mist of ACF 50 just happened (no more than 3 minutes to do the bike).
So for 2 ACF applications I have now covered the purchase cost of the hardware and ACF50 by doing it myself. As for cleaning the bike beforehand - rinse, muc off, rinse, snow foam, rinse, air dryer and then add the ACF 50.
