Understand you're upset but some of this is a bit strong on a public forum! Have you told Keith how you feel? Maybe you were just unlucky with the 1200 but I would'nt link a lack of eye contact to the dodgy bike, salesmen only show an interest in you if they think you're ready to buy. You go from best mate to nobody when you sign on the dotted line, it's normal procedure.:)

Not always the case. It depends on your salesman

That's correct............. my last two GSA's were bought from Pidcock BMW, Keith, the sale guy will always find time to chat, more importantly he remembers your name, call in Pidcocks to day on my new GSA , Keith, still found time to chat although I wasn't in the market to buy a bike.

a salesman is only 'matey' with you after a deal - because of 2 things.

1 - he made a lot of money from you

2 - he honed in on the fact that you will buy something else .

wise up

has he invited you round to his house and paid for food and beer ?

No ? - then he's not your mate !!

My mates don't even pay for my beer:beerjug: unless I buy the first round.

ALAN JEFFRIES

My mate took his gs in for a service. He loaned a bike for a test ride and arranged to drop his off and collect the new naked 1200 at 9am. He saw the head sales bloke and said are you able to sort out the loan bike. The bloke dismissed his request by saying "NOT BEFOER I GET MY COFFEE, IHAVE FIVE MINUTES BEFORE I START". The man is as they say IF YOU GIVE ME TEN GRAND I WILL CONSIDER SELLING YOU A BMW BIKE. We returned to collect the bike at 1.30pm as arranged and were kept waiting till 2.45pm without a sorry or a coffee!. Thats why I bought my bike from Barrie Robsons who has been great.
I also think if you whish to call someone a liar it is your opinion and that is what a public forum is about, expressing your opinion and passing on views and assistance.

With people like you lot no wonder salesmen don't bother with you. Some of you are so far up your own arses. you seem to do nothing but moan and gripe about anyhting remotely connected to BMW but still buy them, albeit privately, I despair!!!!:D

Sometimes I despair

Just back from Kelso - another brilliant weekend of good company , superb roads , excellent weather , semi torpid midges (only one bite !) , too much alcohol , too many mutton pies , the rather fine Les & Jane from Travel-Dri , watching a friend display his considerably improved riding skills over some of the Cheviots' finest , getting sunburnt , and hooning back along the A68 et al .

All in all a first rate "DO" , THANK YOU ONE AND ALL (particularly Jim McS for all the usual "behind the scenes" hard graft that goes into allowing selfish , lazy old gimmers like me to freeload off all your work . THANKS !

Thought I'd check the board to see if anything of note had been put up for sale in my absence - to stumble across this thread .

First an acknowledgement , I'm a long standing customer of Allan Jeffries and have found them to be amongst the three best dealers I have used in some fourty three years of riding bikes . Yes they make mistakes , just like me . When they have , it has been my experience that they do their utmost to put it right . They even have an embarassingly long record of putting my mistakes right ( cross threaded exhaust stud @ 07:45 , due @ Peterborough @ 10:30 anyone ? , or perhaps dead starter motor fixed @ 07:30 so that I can get to Cadwell for the first session of a trackday ?) .

I've not bought a new bike since 1998 and look to be unlikely to do so in the foreseeable future as my boring old 1100GS suits me and seems to be capable of keeping up with most .

Keith I've found to be straight , honest , sound and genuinely prepared to "go the extra mile" to help both new and established customers get the bike that they want . Anyone else remember the other time when GSes were the latest "shiny shiny must-have" ? At the time Jefferies had sold all that year's supply of 1150s and most of the next as well , Keith was part of the team that scoured Europe to ensure that customers got what they wanted - yes , he made commission on every additional bike sold , and so he should as he'd worked for it .

My experience of Keith would lead me to the opinion that if a customer felt that he had misrepresented a bike , he did so out of a genuine mistake , howsoever arrived at .

I assume Joe that ; given your "strap-line" , you have told Keith your honest and genuinely arrived at views regarding his tendency toward mendacity to his face , or are we possibly detecting a faint but pungent whiff of hypocrisy on someone's part ?

My despair ? Oh it's occasioned by having happened upon such unmitigated and craven tosh such as this , so much so that I feel almost as if I have to apologise for reading it .

My apologies to you Keith if you ever happen to see all this and similarly to anyone else who values adult discourse .

All the best ,
Jim .

Just come back to the forum (and my GS incidentally - busy year with little time for Bikes)

In the interest of balance I thought I would share my experience of dealing with AJ's and Keith in particular

I personally have always been treated with respect by all the staff at AJ - including Tony himself and secured good deals and first class service.

I have bought a couple of bikes from Keith at AJ's and been away on their annual ridaways to various European destinations over the last 6 years or so.

Keith used to be part of those trips I feel I got to know him pretty well spending long days riding together and long evenings drinking together!

Even used to get free tickets to see David race from time to time. (R.I.P. Dave)

Although Keiths sense of direction navigating on those trips could be questionable he is a great bloke, honest and hard working.

My view is that you should share your opinions on dealerships as business openly but keep generalised personal attacks based on individuals out of a public forum - there you go - just my two penneth

Now - might just give Keith a bell and see about a 1200 GS!

Everybody is entitled to there opinion, you find Keith a great bloke that's fine, I found him to be...........lets say a guy that didn't tell the truth and the word for that in any language is a !!!!!!!!!

I trusted the guy to tell me the truth over the phone when I put down a deposit on the 1200GS, "like a new one" his words not mine, plus there was another incident regarding a warranty item which I don't wish to go it to, this was corrected by Ms Jefferies who I think is a great ambassador for the BMW Dealership,I would have on problems recommending them to anyone who is thinking of buy a BMW.

I took photos of the bike once I got it home 2 hours after a bought it in case I needed to take action, showing all the defects, plus I had a witness who came with me to Jefferies, but like I said Ms Jefferies was very good in sorting out the problem.

So if in your opinion this is a personal attack on Keith......... that's up to you..... you are..... like I am entitle you your opinion.........in my opinion anyone that tell you an untruth, is a liar ..................END OF

Well we all know who you think so poorly of, so in my book it is a personal attack.
The old adage of,,,if you're unhappy with service/goods etc tell us,(we'll sort it out,,,as AJ have!) if you're happy, tell everyone else would seem appropriate but obviously not the case.

2 bikes, lots of services and basically 100% happy with them

The forum moderator really has to do something about these personal attacks, the public forum is really not the place to air these thoughts.

I mean how would you feel if dealers opened up a forum & just gave all their problem customers a 'good verbal kicking', with no chance of reply.

The staff in dealerships are human, they get up in the morning, have their cornflakes & go to work. They make mistakes, but as the old adage goes 'to err is human, to forgive devine'.

Let him who have no sin cast the first stone!!!!

PS I do not work for Jefferies

next bike with properly came from A J's, but I would only deal with Ms Jefferies.

Keith was the guy that sold me the 1200GS which turn out to be A DOG, so in the end it cost me money to swap to a GSA, when I took the GSA up to A J's for it 600mile service Keith couldn't, or wouldn't even look me in the eye, nuff said.

Sold in thirty minutes ! Must have been a right "dog"
Anyone unsure is welcome to come and see for themselves. A cleaner and more mint example of a 1200GS I do not think you will find. I do not tell lies and am quite happy to discuss this ludicrus accuzation with anyone. You Know where I am.

You Have my mobile number, call me any time after 5 30, I am very interested to see what you have to say.

Yes the bike is now mint, I had most of the faults put right by your service department, check your service records, you will see that the side stand was replace because it was catch the gear shift and it was booked in to have the rushy disc replaced, at the same time Ms jefferies was going to look at the scratch on the front beak the low oil I did myself, and the left side damaged tank panel was supplied by you and fitted it myself, the right side tank panel was replaced by Blue Bell under warranty, all this can be checked.Accuzations no, FACT.

CALL ME.

Obviously you have not read all the threads, I am very happy with the service I had from Jefferies, the service department are very good, Mike the service manager is a really great bloke to deal with, Ms Jefferies as been great in solving the problem.

SO FOR THE RECORD, I THINK THAT ALLEN JEFFERIES ARE ONE OF THE BEST DEALER IN THE UK AND I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THEM, "HOPE THIS SINKS IN"

The fact that the bike I bought from the sale department WASN'T in the "like a new one" condition that I was told as left a very bitter taste in my mouth, I think anyone would be upset when paying out nearly 10k

Fact is, Jefferies sorted it out to your satisfaction, so why the continued tirades against the member of staff who you originally dealt with? I could understand it if Jefferies had not sorted the matter out, but they have. Don't you think its time to move on Joe?
