Allow Advanced drivers to go faster ?

Saw this interesting idea on the EX muslim council of Great Britain website,

Speed limits are low so that dumbass drivers dont do so much damage when they crash.

Trained emergency drivers can exceed the speed limit (by a large margin) at their discretion (including my mrs :eek::eek:)

So why not let those who have passed a higher standard, to go a little faster

sounds fair to me :nenau

Some of the Advanced Riders/Drivers I have witnessed would be a bloody liability if they went faster:rolleyes:

However the good ones are very competent:thumby:
 
I think they should remove the speed limit on toll motorways. They are quiet and people wouldn't object to paying if they could drive fast. It's safe enough in Germany.

all ptw (powerd two wheels) except for 29 mph mopeds should be allowd to go faster than the posted limits 60 in a 50 70 in a 60 and 90 in a 70. This would help stop the motorcycle becoming invisable while stactic relevant to the vechicles around them. when they are moving relitave to their suroundings they are more lightly to be seen. JJH

Oh God (or your deity of choice), can you imagine the handwringing, 'finkofdachildwen' toss and ballcocks from groups like Brake? They'd be weeping about the roads being littered with dying kittens and the end of civilisation.

Match the number on the stick to the number on the dial or God stamps on a puppy. That's about the intellectual calibre of modern road safety policy.

Afraid I have to disagree very strongly with you John, going faster will NOT make us easier to see. Most drivers who say they haven't seen have either not looked at all or have just taken a flying glance. More speed in these situations leaves us with less time and space to react.

I agree somewhat but when you are sat on a main road / motorway and a car sits on your back wheel for miles you need to create a space and opening the throttle is the best way of doing it JJH

I've found that sitting back, steering with my feet and rolling a fag tends to make following traffic back off a little. :augie

Serious bit,
traffic that proceeds at a rate different to (faster or slower) than surrounding traffic is more at risk of collision with another road user than traffic at the same pace.
 
ITYWF that if your riding/driving is of a high enough standard, you already can speed with impunity.
It's only when you fail to meet that standard and speed where it's unsafe to do so that you run the risk of injury or loss.

Great idea!

Just so that the Old Bill can ignore these "advanced" riders, not stopping them to ascertain their qualifications and interrupting their "progress", they should all wear waxed Bellstaff clobber, reflective Sam Brownes and ride bikes adorned with IAM and ROSPA stickers. No Belstaff and no Sam Browne, equals no higher permitted limit. An extra ten miles per hour should be allowed for those who give hand-signals when passing the less well trained on dual-carriageways.
