Hi all, newbe here :bounce1 all excited and shiny :clap

I have managed to locate 3 mint ally panniers and some rails (though the left one has been down the road some at some point in its life) but a can of smooth hammerite has brought it up luverly :)

However there is one teeny problem, all 3 are RH panniers :blast and my guess is the LH one is supposed to be a slightly different shape to the right and top as it will not fit the rails (it contacts the exhaust protector bar on the LH rail)

So to my question, could someone please post a picture of the rear of the LH pannier, so I can see how I need to 'adjust' the shape of the one I have

Clearly I would not want to stump up for another pannier (unless someone happens to have a mint LH one they want to swap?:toungincheek) but as the rear will be hidden from view, some careful 'easing' should be ok??

Cheers all

I can post a pic, certainly.

Not sure that you can see that much as the cut out gets quite black from the exhaust emissions.
I would think it would take fairly major changes to get a R/H/S pannier to fit on the left.

Left GSA Pannier

Here is a couple of pictures from my Pannier, I guess you could make it fit if your good at metal fabrication:nenau

Wow some work to do...

Hey thanks folks, that is exactly what I needed, maybe my plan of 'easing' is a little over optimistic, I think I shall take the pannier and picture to a fabricators and let them make the changes necessary.

Just guessing but the LH pannier must get pretty hot on a long run, being ally and that close to the exhaust, I am surprised they do not put any heat shielding on the outside?

Lastly, and a real long shot, can anyone recommend a fabricators near Cheltenham/Cirencester?

Cheers all

As long as you use the standard exhaust (with or without cat) it stays surprisingly cool, it only really gets hot if you use a more free flowing exhaust, then it'll burn the pannier frame.

I know the Remus exhausts can come with a extender pipe to take the heat past the pannier

Another option

...might be to flog one of the RH panniers (FleaBay/here ?) as they can be/are used as top boxes, and at least part finance a proper LH one....:nenau

Or ...

... fit a 'stubby' exhaust pipe and keep the one you have ? The search function is your friend, but a stubby is a replacement for the end can on the 1150GS/A, and allows for the fitting of a full-size pannier :thumb

Now...

there are a couple of cracking ideas, thanks guys....:bow

I will keep my eyes open for a LH one while looking into fabricators options
