Hi All,

I've been looking for an Almax Immobiliser Series III + Squire SS65CS Stronghold Lock in 2m length. I 've heard these are good:thumb2

The only thing is Almax are on holiday and i'm having troublegetting hold of one.

I spoke to one company and he said that Almax have stopped selling to wholesalers and are only selling direct.

So,has anyone seen one of these lurking in a local shop or any ideas if any mail order companys still have these in stock?

Let me know if see one.

Cheers:beerjug:

Thanks

:thumb Thanks for confirming what I'd seen on their website.

I'll give Zanx a call and get one on order.

The only chain to pass a test at the Bike Show a year or two back. Huge hydraulic bolt crops used, all the biggies donated a chain or shackle to test and Almax were the only ones smiling at the end.:D
The rest were furious, as it was a very public test and they looked tw&ts.:blast
The test was done by a joe public type with no axe to grind (MAGs event co-ordinator, Pete Walker).

That said, even a ordinary chain is better than no chain.:thumb

Thanks for all of the feedback.:thumb2

I'm planning to get the 2m version - to fit into a concave tube concrete in ground anchor.

Will 2m be enough to attach to a 1200GS? (haven't quite got the bike yet so can't measure).

Also where's the best places to thread through the bike?

The bike will have spoked wheels  - will the Series III (16mm) chain fit through these?

Any help much appreciated, as I'm about concrete in the ground anchor in the next couple of days and would like to order up the chain also?

FWIW,
The almax III will fit through various places on the 1200GS frame which I reckon is more secure than through wheels - wheels can be unbolted easily and the rest of the bike lifted away, the frame cannot.

1.5m was sufficient to attach to a wall mounted anchor and through the frame on my 1200GS - just enough chain to easily lock the bike, but not too much slack either so no loose chain.
HTH!
Dave.

Thanks Cookie:rolleyes:

Was thinking through the wheel and frame, or wheel & telelever, or wheel and centre stand.

Although i'm sure one of you tossers will let me know exactly where the best place is to stick it!

Hopefully not up my @rse!?!.....:nono

I use the passenger footrest hanger.

Which can be sawn through in a couple of minutes and they can then wheel the bike away

At least if they have to take the wheel off, it'll hopefully burger up their backs when they have to lift it all the way to the van / trailer :)

Chain Fitment

Almax took the time to show me the ONLY secure way to use the chain/ground anchor when I bought from them at the show last year.

Need a 2mtr chain which you drape over the seat unit (in the middle) and secure to the anchor underneath the bike. You may need a short link for the Adv model due to extra height?

Provided you ensure there is no slack, the bike cannot be moved, plus you have the added benefit of having the padlock under the sump where it cannot be attacked with sledgehammers/cutters etc.

I use a sheet of bubble-wrap under the chain to stop chaffing (No..on the bike you fools)!

From the horses mouth as they say (whoever they are?):thumb2

length...ooh er

Almax make the chain so that it can be passed through the link at any point, this means the chain can be made tight wherever you attach it.

Just cut through the fabric sheath and pop the end link through and put the lock on. Most other chains can only be connected through the end link.

Almax III is a great chain if used with a decent lock, only down side is it will not fit through the hole in the back of the 1200's, and they are bloody heavy if carried with the bike so keep the length to a minimum.
