On the other hand fuel is cheaper now. Overall probably not much difference?

But by editing the routes slightly it's possible to make hotel stops in neighbouring countries like Austria and Italy where hotels may be more reasonably priced.

Do you reckon you'll have time now to make the whole trip a scenic exploration, or will you need to compress the riding days in order to get down to the Alps? Either way, interested for next year, as i'll be able to depart earlier and return later if there's a bit of a rush. In fact, I could combine the whole thing with a bit of off road and touring in the French Alps and Dolomites. If there's interest in a trip extension by anyone else, let me know.
