There’s even an article on the top 10 bikermate scran joints. Though some of it might be a bit ‘foreign, mate’ for the refined English palate:

I mean, pickled herring and raw onion in a cob. What kind of shite is that?

Yep, “Germany is shite and boring and full of Germans” too.

That bottled arrangement, does not belong on the table either, seeing as it looks to be the sort of stuff that truckers lob out the window in a lay-by.

You need the onions to mask the taste of the Becks!

As for being full of Germans...... I was taking refreshment at the sidings cafe in Dufftown recently and I asked Mein Host what all the fuss was back at the Glenfiddich distillery. She told us that it was a "Dramathon" event that has attracted people from all over. She finished by saying, "of course, the place is full of bloody Germans". Thank you for the information, Frau Anya Hoffman. :D

I will see what I can do by getting the routes into a GPX format (they do download) as they might well interest Doc, who is not too frightened of trying a less well trodden area…. With help :D

Very true. 😆
Help always gracefully accepted of course.

CHARACTERISTICS
Holstein Switzerland is located in the triangle between Kiel, Lübeck and Fehmarn. The tour described here leads almost exclusively along narrow and winding side roads through forests and meadows, past castles and manor houses to the beach at Hohwacht Bay. When the rapeseed blossoms in spring, the land between the seas shows its colourful side. The Probsteier Kortage take place every year from the end of July to the end of August.

SEE & BE AMAZED
From the Plön car park Fegetasche
(GPS 54153844, 10.44B993), you can enjoy
charming boat trips on the Great Plön Lake, as well as the Five Lakes Tour between Plön and Malente.

In the idyllic Baltic resort of Hohwacht, the Flunder viewing platform (GPS 54.324490,
10.666550) offers a unique opportunity to enjoy
Motorcycle boots to walk across the waves. Easily accessible from the car park.

The little-known Holzberg Tower in the Neversfelde district near Malente (GPS 54.177361, 10.542422) offers visitors another opportunity to view Holstein Switzerland from above.
Parking and admission are free of charge.

SLEEP & DREAM
Located in the heart of Holstein Switzerland, surrounded by lakes and blessed with
regional cuisine – this is how the Malentener Landgasthof Kasch (GPS 54.170611, 10.4933351) presents itself to travellers in the north.

If you would like to spend a day in a beach chair, you should drop anchor at the thatched Hotel Genueser Schiff (GPS 54327871, 10.658761) on Hohwacht Bay.

The small but lovely Godau campsite (GPS 54.121747, 10.391431) is rightly considered "the pearl of Lake Plön". It enjoys a wonderfully peaceful location surrounded by nature.

FEASTING & SLURPING
The rustic lakeside hut on Kellersee lake in Bad Malente-Gremsmühlen (GPS
54.178148, 10.580084) offers the finest fish sandwiches.

Surrounded by strawberry fields and vineyards, the rustic Feldcafé at Ingenhof in Malkwitz (GPS 54.208838, 10.592355) spoils visitors with fresh berries, a huge cake buffet and fine wines from its own vineyard.

The family-run Lasner fishery in Ascheberg (GPS 54.137875, 10.334433) is one of the oldest in Schleswig-Holstein and serves its guests on Lake Plön with delicacies caught and smoked in-house.

I wish Alpentourer would do an English language version.

I have contacted the magazine in the past, suggesting that very thing. Their reply was that they don’t have the staff, nor money, to justify it. They know their markets, better than us, I’m sure.

My post #8 was translated with nothing more than my iPhone. It is all doable with a bit of a willpower.

It would be even easier on something with a bigger screen such as an iPad, laptop or full blown iMac/PC

Thanks @Wapping
I am planning a fortnight in this area this year.
So will take a look at your suggestion thanks.

This year?! Are you sure?

Might be a bit cold…

This looks a nice potential place to visit on our way to Stralsund unless we do another week sometime.

Isn’t a cob a type of horse? There do look to be a horse on that table. Pickled herring is nice, raw onion is nice , bread rolls are nice. Bottled lager? Now that really is shite, particularly as Germany has some fine beers.

Cob is a popular word in the Midlands for a bread roll. It’s also a type of nut.

I guess they chose the bottled Becks beer, due to the proximity of Bremen. But who knows?
