Alpinestar Tech 4 with ATV sole

Greg, My Tech4 boots are not waterproof and the plastic straps that the buckle clips to have snapped, I did get replacement straps, the waterproof issue was solved with some army surplas goretex inner boots.

I would be more tempted to go for tech6 or 8 nextime. I believe the 8 has a removable goretex inner boot.

Oh and the 4 is not comfy when you have to push a DR with no chain for 3 miles:mad:

Foot still Hurting then ?

As I recall, I was laughing about it at the time but I wasn't laughing at all a couple of hours later!

:tears

The physio that I saw on Monday reckoned that I've torn a tendon and that I should be off work for a month! But as my Mommie used to say "Life is like a box of choc....". Erm, wrong quote. She said "A bit of pain never hurt anybody!"

So that's part of the reason for looking for new boots, but also because the boots I have have stopped being waterproof, so perhaps it's time for some new ones.

:)

Tech 8's aint waterproof. They have a leather inner shoe thing which you can remove to wash and dry and makes the boots really comfy. I also use the army surplus things for keeping my feet dry. Bloody good boots I reckon, loads of support and comfy due to the inner shoe. Check out www.ecossemotocross.co.uk where they sell em for £200. A lot of money but they're £260 everywhere else I've seen them. Worth the extra over the Tech 4's and 6's IMHO.

Only annoying thing about them is the squeeking from the straps when you walk. You can loosen the straps without unbuckling, which is quick and easy and makes them a bit better for walking around in but they still squeek!

I just bought a pair im size 11 but was told to get 12
there like boats and the weirdest thing ive ever put on my feet
im used to road hein geirke boots which are like gloves.
havent had a chance to check out riding the bike with them yet
but i have also purchased a pair of waterproof socks
army surpless,i dont know about getting a size too big but
if i can still ride the bike ill keep them go them from england for €189 i think which as far as i could find was a good price.
DOes anybory ride a gs withh them do you need to re adjust the gear shift? And do they loosen out any bit or is the ridgity
with them for life as part of the safety thing ?

I tried adjusting my GS gear lever but couldn't get enough space between the footpeg and lever so I bought a Touratech adjustable job. Gear changes are now a piece of cake, you don't get a lot of feel but you get used to it.

My Tech 8's are rigid for life I reckon but as I said before I find em really comfy. They give me loads of confidence and support, for example when stopping at lights and putting your foot down it feels like planting a tree. I'm not the biggest or tallest GS rider and these boots really help. As for the size to get, I'm usually a UK8 so I bought a US9 which is the norm.

im a uk 10 and was told to get a us 12 which i think is too big as i got them posted ill wait until i try them on the bike but im not over confident
