Evening all.

Me an me mate Sidey are having a blast down to Portugal this September, me on the 1200 and Side on his XT660. Been looking at the Alpos panniers for the XT, they look pretty good value for money. Anyone got a pair and could give some feedback on? He's already got the TT rear rack, will they bolt on there OK? Thanks in advance :thumb2

bought a pair for my gsa. Cheap, very thin meterial I will not fit them. In fairness u get what u pay for. They come with a univresal fitting kit not very universal. Give me 150 and u can have them posted they are the bigger ones. JJH

I have them with SW Motech racks and they work fine. The front part of the seal on one box 'pops' out occaisionally and that can let a small amount of water in. I always pack my stuff in waterproof compressions sacks so this isn't a problem.

Did have them on both my standard 12 and my GSA, very useable the left one has even taken the full weight of a fully loaded GSA on its side. Don't be put of by the thin material comment, the seams around top and bottom more than make up for it.

I have had them on the wife and my GS's for a year.
I only bought the boxes, and made my own mounting kit based on a TT design. The only other thing i have done is to give extra strength around the mounting, use large washer ( i used ballistic plastic sheet the size of the side to spread any pressure from the mounting points)

No they are not as strong as the TT or others..... but I can buy 3 sets to equal their cost! :oonyack (Nor have the lids come flying off backwards towards other riders:blast... remember that bowser?)

used them around UK and Europe , fitted all the time, used everyday, no leaks no problems, but all road and field use. no hauling up the side of a mountain like a goat.

you get what you pay for, but if your not riding around the world or over rough terrain every day, these can do the job.:clap:clap

To be fair then they sound OK for the money, I'll tell Side about your offer JJH when he gets in he's working late tonight tho :thumb2

Cheers for the advice lads but he's managed to get a deal on some sweet looking ARD panniers. Look really nicely put together and they seem to have good reviews. Roll on September :aidan

I have some with sw-motech frames on them. They are quick release, I bolted the frame onto the pannier. Tough, reliable and low weight. Downside is the width is more than bespoke boxes that wrap around the exhaust.

This is on my 12. I had some on my 1150 too.

just ordered some from yatley where would i get the puck kit from and dont d say toura tech:toungincheek

I've just bought a 'Alpos' topbox on eBay pretty cheaply (£45). It was apparently mounted onto a KTM rack and all four or five mounting holes in the base have splits. I've now got a small sheet of 2.5mm aluminium which I shall Sikaflex onto the base, and this will give me quite a few years of use.:rob
