I recently posted a thread for my Alps trip this year, which unfortunately got called off at the 11th hour due to a financial mess up on my part. Since then I have scraped some happy notes together , flogged a few things on here to help and am now back on target(ish) to get this trip back on. :bounce1

I am due to set off in the early hours tomorrow for my ferry to Calais, but I sit here wondering - just when can I get the bike loaded up ready to go?

As with the current running thread "Ain't Half Hot, Mum..." I am waiting for this atrocious UK weather to subside enough to take the chance on loading up, but it just will not stop pissing it down!

The bike lives outside, and whilst having a cover for it, it is pointless putting it on an already wet machine, let alone a wet warm machine!

I need a window of opportunity to load the luggage boxes and ideally get the rest of the kit on board , tent (only arrived yesterday) , bed roll etc etc.
This trip has been given the green light at such short notice that I've barely had a chance to do a trial fit, as it were , and when the weather has improved (minimally you understand) I've been at work. :blast

10hrs before the off and no Euro's yet.
I've struggled all week to get hold of my IC to inform them of my travels (still not had any joy).
I need to inform my bank where I'll be - not had that opportunity yet and then a quick flit around the supermarket to get some travel fodder.

I can't do the bank run or the supermarket sweep due to soaked bike clothing and my other half has my car!

I am not asking for any help or advice, as such. Neither am I having a rant!
That should be obvious because if this were a rant it would barely touch a 1/10 - and I don't do ones!

I just want to know when somebody will turn the bloody rain off so I can at least do something!

I have a feeling it may just stop around midnight so I can load up in pitch black - yep that sounds about right!

Bingo! Just got through to IC and got the all clear with the addition of PIC for just £15.00 :beerjug:

'Bust' isn't in the plans , the Alps are! :thumb2

Sunny here in Cambridge :thumb2

I'm really pleased to read you're trip is back on. Ride safe, ride hard and enjoy the hell out of it and do a brill trip report when you get back.

I am convinced that the ad hoc nature of this will make it even better than it had been before :thumb2

I thought the website was playing up when I saw the forecast for Blighty :comfort

At least there will be some tennis to watch next week :augie

And from sunny Austria

Hot enough here for guests to have to sit in the shade and drink lots of beer!

Have a great trip.

Returned home from Barcelonette (French Alps) this morning and my god, going from 24*C + to rain is a bit of a shock. Cracking holiday and the roads were amazing! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did "Jayc". :thumb

Thanks guys!

I got back from a hot France to a wet Bighty last night , about a week earlier than hoped but there ya go!

A ride report will follow soon. :beerjug:
