Altberg Bahn Rider (Failure)

I have a pair of the army tabbing boots which i use as my daily riders

they have been resoled & randed once so have lasted me about 4 years,

Wear pattern is consistent with any boot i wear, and the failure point is always where they flex on the upper at the widest point - the downside of having very very very wide feet

So there will be no resole repair this time round , luckily i have another pair ready to go to replace these

Bloody good boots

I've had the same thing happen with Haix military boots... I put it down to time... the material that they use for the soles, seems to just degrade over time. With Haix, it seems to happen within about 10 years !
100%. I had a pair of extreme cold weather winter boots which I cherished. Last winter I hauled them out and they failed badly. Uppers were perfect, soles were spot on, it was the rubber between the two which became crumbly.

I put it down to storing them somewhere too warm and dry. Beyond repair. 😩

We popped down to Altberg this morning , boots looking as good as new and the new Altberg soles are quite chunky and look like they will have loads of grip .
Not bad for £80 odd and hopefully will last another 10 years plus .
