Altberg boots

Have been wearing Altberg 'Roadster' boots for the last six years or so virtually every day. On my third pair now. They look like wellies when new, but I find them comfy,warm and waterproof. Could do with a protective pad on shin as was hit by a flicked up stone in the past and by jimminy it hurt!

The boots look great and with everybody's recommendation I'm tempted to go for them when my current boots need replacing but the lack of armour does bother me. There appears to be little in the way of ankle or shin protection. Has anybody had a similar experience to dusty or a serious off, and if so how did the boots protect you?

Altberg

Only got bruising from the stone.... Have had one major off and the boots did their job to some extent . Strong sole prevented any crushing however with them having relatively soft side ( ankle area ) compared to some boots I ended up with broken ankle...along with shattered collarbone ( Cant blame the boots for that )

I had a pair of Clubman Roadsters. Agree with all comments about comfort and waterproofness but...........
Had a minor filtering off a couple of years ago and I got a bang on my lower shin - am now the proud owner of a permanent scar.
First thing I did with my compensation was buy a pair of Daytona Trans Open GTX boots. Same comfort, same waterproofness and a serious amount of shin armour.

Sorry everyone but I gave up on my Altberg Clubmans after 12 months - found them as bloody uncomfortable as the first day I put them on. And they leaked! Must be the way I'm made as eveyrone else seems to rave about them and they are consistantly the top rated boots in the Ride surveys.

Don't worry Jay I have the same problem with the Shitbert Contcept. Crap lid (apart from the sun shade)

So, not all rosy in the Altberg garden then?

Maybe it's 'cos I'm getting older but I now think about things like armour (sad git that I am) and if the boots haven't got it then I guess I'll give them a miss and stay with armoured boots (even though they don't look as good and they're more expensive }

Does anyone use these for walking and riding? Our holidays are always ride somewhere pretty on the bike, then go for lovely long walks. This means I need to where motorcycle boots to get somewhere, and carry bulky hiking boots so we can go walking when we get there. Walks are generally 4-5 hours in the mountains, or hills (e.g. the rocky Pyrenees or the muddy Ardennes).

I have had a pair of all weather Hoggs for several years. I have riden them to work, and then spent 8 hours in them without a problem. They are super.

Dick, you'd be hard pressed to say that the Altberg Clubmans look good. Functional yes but they miss the boat style wise!

I wasn't thinking of the Clubmans but those that look like "army" boots
