Just picked up my 6 year old Boots from Altberg in Richmond after a "re-build".
Brilliant job by "real bootmakers". Boots look brand new with replacement soles, new linings, all velcro replaced and the "gearchange" reinforcement patch enlarged which was done at my request. All for a not unreasonable £53.
On top of that two of Altberg,s finest spent 20 minutes re-fitting them to my size tens (steamed and stretched) as apparently when boots are re-lasted they return to their original size. Oh, and they through in a tin of their special "Leder Grease" polish. Top Product, Top Service and the place smells lovely.

+1:thumb2. I'm still using a pair of Field and Fell for work that are now 12 years old and still going strong after refurb's. Altberg told me there were very few boots they couldn't resurrect back into service.

They did a great job of my crash damaged boots plus full refurb, all for their standard refurb price :thumb2

Hi Mike,
how long did the refurb take ? I have a pair that need new soles, but don't want to be without them for too long. Also, didn't know they could steam & stretch - have to ask them about that for mine too.

Fantastic service from these people, went in to the shop on my way down to York last year as my boots were a bit tight. Left them and picked them up the following week on my way home, they had stretched the boots and cleaned them up.

Best bit, no charge...service doesn't get any better than that :clap

Ditto from me too

I've two pairs of their boots, clubman classic at 11 years old and still going strong and a pair of bandogs. One refurb on the clubman classic. Top stuff.

Hi Roger,
sorry for the delayed reply. Busy making money !!. Altberg normally give a Turnround time of 3 to 4 weeks depending on the time of the year. Seems that the refurb. dept is busier in the Winter as you would expect. They had mine for 4 weeks and then called me to say they where ready. So it would be better if you have some others you can fall back on.

Thanks Mike -about what I expected really -just hoping it might be a bit less. Once you've worn Altberg, my old "standby" pair will just feel so naff, but I might wait a little while, 'til the rush dies down !!!
Thanks for the info anyhow-
Roger
