That time already and I don't want to give my right arm to BMW for 4 l of oil any suggestions , thanks

You know what oil is recommended? Just buy the best oil you can at the best price. I bought mine in Halfords with a bit of discount. JJH

Sorry I didn't see that you are new. Welcome. Oil and BMWs is a much discussed topic on here. BMW currently recommends Shell. They did until reciently recommend Castrol both fully synthetic. JJH

Well seeing that you live in the North east, next time in Newcastle visit hunters, Westgate road. They are a motul dealer and their prices are cheaper than most.

Ive used them for years. If travel is a problem the internet is your friend.

Be prepared for the wrath of the forum posting oil threads.

Around £30 on EBAY. I always do my own, even when bikes and cars are in guarantee period. I can't pay £250 to change an oil and filter which costs £40 especially when I like doing it.

Cant you ever post anything good instead of always complaining about other peoples posts!

No..... idiots like you ruined the Ezcan thread I posted that was good. Then of course we had to have 5 more EZcan threads because of idiots like the OP in this thread.

Like I said in that post, lucky for people like you I'm not a moderator here.

Fred, I realise u had issues on the ezcan post but don't add to them on other people's post, in my opinion it was a perfectly normal question from the original OP & one which I was interested in enough to read/follow..

Oh please, oil has been discussed so many times in this forum you don't think all the information you need is already there? Threads like this make forums a shit fight to find actual useful information in the end.

Maybe you should start another tyre or rust thread...we need more of those in here :P

I realise your bitter but time will heal..
Have a nice day & go grab a Fosters..

Why dont you go start your OWN forum then you can approve ALL posts before they get posted. If you dont like new threads about oil rust etc then dont read them! Other people may be interested in them.

I tend to change my own oil in between services but if BMW don't do it they won't stamp your book (so they told me).
I've been reluctant to post this in case I get flamed for not sitting and trawling the site to see if someone else posted it 5 years ago but.... the last oil change I did, I used Motul 7100 which is fully synthetic 10w / 40 MA2. I did't change the filter so used just the 4 litres. It made a significant difference to the running of the engine - smoother and quieter too.

At my recent service, BMW used the £60 for 4 litres Shell stuff and I'm back to the rattly engine persona again

I always change my own oil since having a filter wipe at the dealers.. they stamp my book with oil supplied..I do think they are trying to tighten up tho... I would use either motul or silkolean oil products ...if you went to a good independent they would use it... official ducati service agents or good ones like cornerspeed won't put anything else in a bike other than motul

Great info, I'm currently suffering the rattle engine syndrome, I'm sure it's ok but I like it a tad quieter..
