Morning folks, currently I’ve a full set of vario panniers and top box on my F700gs. TBH I’m not that keen on them, they’re heavy, poorly shaped and the vario mechanism eats into useable space. So I was wondering what other people use and could perhaps recommend as an alternative to them.

Jesse's are top loading, welded aluminium and leave only an 'L' shaped bracket whet not mounted. The lids can foul a top box, but that's the same with most top-loaders. Pretty much top of the range and might not be available new; they do come up 2nd hand but you'll have to be quick. Try placing a wanted ad, you won't regret fitting them.
Recently received my F650gs with full set of Varios. Well made, but the expanding mechanism on one of the two top boxes and the side cases is seizing up so needs freeing. I found to my disappointment that my helmet does not fit in the top box rendering it pretty much useless. And I always disliked side loading side cases. I will probably be putting them up for sale soon and replacing with Givi luggage.
