Wonder if anybody has any suggestions please. My mother has just sold her house and will be moving into rented house for a few months, until she can find a new home. She doesn't want to go through the aggro of sorting Internet out while in rented accom, so I wonder if there is an alternative.

She uses an iPad for her Internet use, but it is a wifi only model and her mobile phone is a very cheap pay as you go phone.

Is there any device that would allow her to creat a wifi hotspot that her iPad could connect to, using 3G, that she could use on a pay as you go SIM card? I know you can use iPhones etc as a hotspot, but she doesn't want to/can't afford too buy a new smart phone. As it would only be a relatively short period, 6 months at most.

Any suggestion would greatly appreciated.

I use a Three MIFI dongle, originally for use on the boat it's now the most handy stopgap if i get landline broadband issues:thumb

A Three MI-FI would get my vote. :thumb

You can connect up 5 machines, and it has a micro SD slot so that everyone in the loop can access common files held there.

EDIT: It seems like all the providers do a similar item - Check which provider has the best signal in the area.

Glad to help mate,

Google is great, but people still have to figure out if its right for them.

Personal knowledge is better :beerjug:

Another vote for the 3 mifi :thumb I used to have a dongle but now use the mifi so my iphone, galaxy and laptop can all connect simultaneously on just one 3 account. Its much faster than the dongle too.

That's critical :thumb

Even if the Three one is most popular, it'll be worse than useless in some areas......
Start off looking at the coverage maps, and also speak to people locally....they are the only ones who will know if any particular network is shyte or ace in the immediate area, which will be more important than the branding on the dongle :thumb2
