Just when I thought it was time to "simply reverse the disassembly process" to make my R90S go back together all ginger and lovely, (except for dreadful brakes, obviously) a 2mm diameter difference appears to get in the way.
Where the stator sits on the timing cover around the front of the crank it is opposed to snugly fit within the three arcs in a rebate.
However my 'new' timing cover (actually older, but now correct for a late R90S) is ready for a 105mm stator, where my old stator (late 1980 R100RS) is 2 mm bigger. Poo!
So I guess I have at least 2 options:
Spend £100 on a new 105mm stator and sell my 107mm one.
Find a used 105mm stator and sell my 107mm one.
But is there another option? And is there any reason my rotor won't fit?
