Nearing 36,000 miles where I need to replace the alternater belt.

Does anyone know where to get one of the removal tools from without paying BMW stealth tax?:D

Haynes manual says you need part number 12 3 591.

Just brough the maintenance DVD from JVB Productions

http://www.jimvonbaden.com/services.aspx

Very good for the novice like me - given me a lot of confidence to go a bit deeper!:clap

Does anyone change the rear drive oil? The DVD shows you how to but nothing in any of the manuals or service shedule!:blast

Yes seen that thanks...:thumb .not sure about the comments on the end:

The edge of the lower pully is fairly sharp, and the belt gets stretched against it pretty hard. The BMW tool keeps the belt from touching the edge of the pully. I'm worried that I might have damaged one or more of the internal cords in the belt given the way I mounted it.

So would like the tool if I could get one cheap enough....:augie

Cheers anyway:thumb
