did Verns ever make it into production ? - mine will be along the lines of the american model - the price i mentioned is only a rough idea - hope to have a pair for my bike in a week or so, then i'll know a definate price and post a picture.

OK I´ll have a pair then. Silver tongued devil.

I'm interested as well - but being an agnostic I'll need to see them first !!

Denty

i'll have 20 pairs

oops - no - i can't - i'm a timewaster :D:D

call them something catchy like ...

GoodHeads...?

Head crashers...?

platey watey's

coming soon, aluminium rocker cover protectors

straight replacement of the pointless black plastic covers

they'll be bigger than the plastic originals, covering more of the valve cover

won't make the bike any wider, also make it easier to service

can be powder coated in colour of your choice

made from grade 26 ali, which means it'll have a bit of give and not break/crack

And get this , i'll be offering a repair service if you damage one, send the old one back to me and i'll send you a reconditioned replacement

They'll fit all 1100/1150 models ( inc RT, RS )

just finalising cost's - should be around £100 - £120
depends on how many i order, the more i order the cheaper they'll be .

to recon a damaged one will be about £20 ( unless huge amount of damage )

will you be interested ? need to gauge approx amount

Thanks me loves

And the devil's advocate says:
'What is the point of aluminum guards when the bolts holding them to place are these tiny allens? Wha will actually happen is that in a fall the alu-guards will remain intact (surprise surprise) and the supporting bolts will shear. What is even more interesting the possibility of the crancase shearing rather than the bolts. '

But what does ze devil know in the first place?

The bolts aren't fixed to the crankcase -

The same thing can also happen with crashbars, i've had bikes in for repair where the crashbars have gone up into the petrol tank, and where the rear crashbar mounting bolts have torn the mounting point out of the gearbox.

Also seen a few bikes where the crashbars have dug in and thrown the bike over onto the other side.

Ali guards may come away ( the american type seem to stay in place ) , the bolts may shear, i think each individual "off" will have different outcomes -

I personally will not have crashbars on my bike, i wanted an alternative, which would be cheap to replace and offer better protection than the plastic part fitted, which incidently cost almost as much as my ali alternative , and mine will be repairable -

its simple, if you don't like the idea of ali guards, don't have them .

same as i choose to do without crashbars .

Very iterested! Especially if they are similar to Stantons. Would like a peek at a picie before comitting though.

"Crankcase?" I must be foolish, mea culpa. I meant the cylinder bodies. I'm not trying to jeopardise your business, but I think that by doing this you take away any elasticity from the protection, the plastic is there to break and the bars can bend. Have you fitted them on your own bike and then dropped it couple of times on its side on the asphalt?

i will be fitting them to my bike, but i hope i don't have to try them out -

they wil be made from LM 6 ali, its not brittle, so should absorb some shock -

The old airheads had just 3 bolts holding the rocker cover onto the head, i've come off those a few times, not once did mine break off, or damage the cylinder head, they just wore through : and i've worked on hundreds of crashed airheads over the last 24 years, and i can't remember one instance of the rocker cover pulling the studs out of the head - rocker covers smashed, yes .

as i said previously , the american versions have no reports of them doing engine damage
