I came across a GSA parked up yesterday (admittedly pre-LC) which had its crash bars and head covers painted orange. FFS!
 
Ive ordered the machineart head guards to blacken them down a bit. Cover 80% of head
 
In days of new
Where vanity ruled
And no longer was daring do applauded
Some still longed
For the days of old
When men were bold
And vinyl wrap was not invented
For back then
The purpose of black upon the head
Was to keep the fuckers from being dented

You could gold-plate the covers for less than the OEM Carbon Fibre could be bought for.......

Matt black is better for dissipating heat.

Okay - let's say "yes"................... :blast

Great for absorbing radiated heat (like - from the sun)

But conducting it - to atmosphere..................... :blast

I'm going with - no difference from gloss paint (even pastel shades, that LC-owners might prefer.......:D)

On my way to Suffolk I came across an iconic GS with black crash bars and Akra. Anyone on here? I said hello......

Black radiates better just as it heats up in the sun better, but forced convection from the heads is by far the greater effect.
