Ammo Box Panniers

I have just bought 2 ammo boxes from Base Army surplus in Bournemouth. They are about the same size as a zega 35ltr but are a bit heavier as they are made from steel. Construction is solid and they have a good rubber seal around the top opening. I have seen a set in the area on a R1200gs and the looked ok. They should fit to a set of givi or touratech frames with suitable fittings. There is no locks on the but the closing mechanism offers many alternatives to secure. I know as of the 1st November 2008 he has 2 boxes left and he is able to get some more. I intend to put them on my BMW r45 and leave the boxes in the original colour with the army markings .

I have measured the boxes and the dims are 17.5" L x 15"H x 8"W they are a bit narrower than the 35Ltr Zegas. If you follow the link to my face book page you should see them there.

They look like boxes for 40mm grenades as used by the Mk19 Automatic grenade launcher.
