Hers the shots of the rear case I had on the bike in Ireland. They cost about £2 from any surplus shop and you just spray or hammerite them to the colour of your choice. Mine lines up with the mouting holes on the original Givi Plate but any arrangement of holes will do as the bottom is not pre drilled in any way.

The lock details are there for you to copy. Its just two pieces of angle in alloy that are pop rivited in place. Its 100% waterproof as you know from Ireland tour.

That looks like a good budget job, nice paintwork!!, ,,I am glad you did`nt SHELL out to much for them, they look like they cost a BOMB.:shoot: :bomb :hapybnce:

Can confirm this is a really good budget hi-security job for knick-knacks, passport etc, only thing that worried me was riding thru southern Ireland with this thing bolted on the back of Andy's bike, especially as 3/6 of our number INSISTED on wearing surplus British Army DPM cammo waterproofs!!

THATS why I kept hanging back!!

:mcgun :nono

Bollox

Andy,

I have been done, they must have seen me coming. I paid £4.99 for my ammo box!!!!!! Still thanks for the pics I was considering welding a bolt in the middle with a hole in it to run the padlock through. Hmmm I shall "tink" about it.
Thanks for the pics.

Ohhh by the way have you considered a mortor box to bolt onto the back plate with the seat off? Hee hee I reckon it would be a top bit of kit!!

And its completly watertight, have you tried the same for panniers, now there's a thought, H&B look out.

Where's Vern when I need him!

Can/could anyone make a rack that would take two of these as panniers for my 650 Dakar?

I know they're small, but so's me bike and I travel light. Could have an Ortlieb bagor two strapped over the top.

The Touratech rack and mounting kit is about £190, which seems a bit over the top if I'm spening a tenner on some ammo boxes.

Givi any cheaper?

In fact for £10, I might just order some anyway, bound to find a use for them.

Anyone got any ideas?

He's here

Someone asked me a while back to do something like that for him, I think the boxes were Swedish, about £12 each, and more or less the same size as the touratech ones, worth hunting about for. If you're reading this, can you post a picture of them again, whoever you are?

Cat on a hot tin box

Andy,

It has been done, I have arranged the locking mechanism a little bit differently but the effect is the same as I can padlock the bugger!!!!

I am just waiting for the hammerite to dry and will bolt on.........only trouble is where does George the frog go?

I to did not need to drill any holes in the GS so the whole thing can be removed with no "damage"
