This is now in my garage sharing space with my WC but not mine ;)

It's actually belongs to a good mate of mine over from Dubai who was at the Classic meet at Mallory this weekend.

He managed to crash it coming out of Edwina's (I know that feeling :augie) and so has left the bike with me to sort before he comes back in August.

Nothing major to sort that I cannot handle except all the ali framework for the fairing needs to be re-welded:

Any recommendations of someone around Notts/Derby who can sort this?

Cheers

Welding to fairing supports sorted by GIA in Stapleford - would recommend them :thumb

Going to do an oil and filter change on Helga this weekend but no idea how to get at the oil filter (over 25 years since I had my last airhead!).

Is this typical or has the engine been raised in the frame which makes access worse? Any ideas appreciated :thumb

Well gave it a go but no way of getting to filter with engine in the frame :blast

Engine is very tight to top frame tube with engine casing cut to fit:

Removed front cover, front engine bolt, tilted everything forward:

....and still no way of getting the filter out:

Gave up and put it all back together and just changed the oil for now :augie

You don't see many with the normal low engine mounts ground off the frame and then re-weleded onto the top of the tubing !! Obviosly a ground clearance theory ( but putting weight higher up ? )

I think you did the right choice re oil change.....change regularly and if unfortunately the filter clogs, there is an oil bye-pass channel !

Nice bike.

Thanks that was going to be my next question -will advise my mate to just regularly change the oil for now.
