I've been building some gaming PCs for a few colleagues, as well as stripping out and totally upgrading my own machine, involving many HD swaps and thus a good number of OS installations.
One site I can totally recommend is ninite.com, as it has saved me many MANY hours and lots of pissing about making sure I untick all of the sneaky "agree here and we'll also install XYZ shit prog or search bar"
It allows you to install a clean new copy of the latest version of all those essentials, from a good selection of browsers to FTP progs, graphics utilities like Irfanview, anti spyware, virus checkers and many more utilities.
It has NEVER lead me astray with a fake file or a dodgy toolbar, and it's piss easy to use....it also runs in the background so you just tick what you want and set it off......it will also keep things up to date as well.
